A hearty welcome @Bamacountryboy ! You will definitely learn a lot here. I highly recommend you check out our library, as there's a lot of material to sift through.
To ALL the new members, WELCOME. You only need to do two things on this site: 1.) Learn new things, and 2.) Teach new things. Personally I have been "piping" over 55 years and I STILL learn things from our members all the time. There are some very astute and smart people here.
@2wheelsntattos4life, welcome! And to second the great advice given already, remember to just slow down....the pipe should be sipped slowly and enjoyed. My first pipe was a Legend and I still smoke it, even though I've patched it and re-stemmed it. My first bowl I packed so tight I couldn't get air through it, and my second mistake was puffing so rapidly that I charred my tongue. Smoke as if it were a small glass of Baileys.
David here from Modesto, CA. I used to live in Brookings, SD but moved back home for health reasons. I have a few nice estate Kaywoodies ( Prince, Squat Bully, Dublin) and a few cobs including a Corn Cob Nation 2017 Nation Pipe. My family is getting used to the idea of me smoking so I don't feel as judged as I use to. I'm trying to smoke more often so I can get my cadence down. Right now I'm a wet smoker and trying to slow my pace to get the flavor more. I like English blends like Father Dempsey and London Mixture but am trying to get into VA/Bur/Per and Aros more. I'm a member of a few Facebook pipe groups where I ask questions but it seems each group have their own so called "jive." I Like old stuff. Nuff said. Antiquey/American type stuff and hunting and fishing. I drink a lot of tea and starting to get into coffee. Hopefully I can gain more knowledge in the realm of pipes and tobacco. I have a small cellar cause TAD got a hold of me fast when I first took up this hobby. I'm smoking Captain Black White right now cause it soft and easy and it helps me to develop my cadence without biting. Looking forward to dive deep in this pipe smoking life! Cheers!
@Aggie1982 - Welcome to the forum. You might want to check out the This Pipe Life facebook group. When you have a question, just ask it here and you will get some answers that usually are pretty straightforward and not condescending. We may joke around at times or use sarcasm, but are usually good guys.
Check @motie2 pipe smoking library when you get a chance. He has a long list of helpful articles he's found and shared with us.
Edit: I almost made a joke about your user name but refrained. I've known a lot of Texas A&M graduates and they are all aggies.
@Aggie1982 - Welcome to our pipe smoking fraternity. Need any help, or have questions about the site or pipe smoking in general, just ask. We're a (mostly) friendly bunch; someone will step forward -- figuratively -- to help and answer your concerns.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I'm a pipe enthusiast and also the upright bass player in the newgrass band Rowdy Souls. Two other of our members are also pipe enthusiasts. During the warmer months we'll often have a smoke with fans after or before shows. If you'd like to check us out https://www.facebook.com/rowdysouls. If you're in the Chicagoland area we would love to see you at a show and enjoy a smoke with you. My favorite blend is from Tinder Box and it's called Celtic Vanilla. My favorite pipe is a Jobey Stromboli I found at an antique store in Oregon. I'm also looking for other pipe enthusiasts to follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MarcosGravesX Thanks!
Welcome @RurouniKeroro. I’m a huge folk and bluegrass fan and enjoyed checking out some of your stuff on YouTube. All you need is someone on that mandolin!! 😁👍
Hello - New to the forum but been a pipe smoker for a while. Started smoking a pipe in the summer of 1972 - my Freshman year in college. Took a job at the Tinder Box store in Houston where I learned about tobacco, pipes and the various traditions surrounding the hobby. Started collecting pipes around 1975 - since then I've sold several of my collections of Savinelli Autographs, Barling 4 dot, Charatan, GBD and Comoy pipes. My current collection includes about 48 pipes ranging from Cobs, freehands and high end Savinellis. I think the only pipe brand I've never owned is a Dunhill. I primarily smoke VaPer blends with my all time favorite being Escudo. I also smoke some of the C&D blends like Haunted Bookshop and balkan style blends. To say pipe smoking to me is a pastime would be a gross understatement - it is in my DNA. Anyway - glad to be a member.
Ah, sorry to hear you couldn't be in the Navy, but don't feel bad. Just kidding, everyone should respect every branch of the Military. And in my mind, we can each bust each others b^$$s, but no one else better do the same. Hand Salute....
