Hello ! Thank you for the invite. Pipe with Burley for around 45 years now. Very simple of only a few pipes , 2 daily smoking favorites. Stanwell bulldog and old school Dr Grabow bent stem ( no filter , lol ) Grabow is very old and cake needs reduced quite often but probably my best friend Main staple burley Half and half from start to present. Little Perique or Latika now and then. do not notice as many pipe smokers as I did once. Seems the rage now is Vap. Tried that one time and once was enough for me ,Ahh... hell no ! lol . Take care and thanks again for the invite ! Peace...
I'm not exactly new but I have been gone for several years. Figured I'd reintroduce myself. I'm the guy with all those cobs and a weakness for nightcap and Prince albert.
Since I just posted a note to Leonard, I think I ought to introduce myself. I’ve been smoking a pipe since 1961 but only recently started following (lurking) forums. My wife and I divide our time between northern MN and recently the East Bay Area of California. No B&Ms in northern MN, but there are a few interesting possibilities in CA. I do have to drive 1- 1.5 hours to get there, but am happy to support them. Tobacco-wise, I like lat forward blends. I even will add Latakia to milder English/Balkan/Oriental blends like WCC English Ernie-ental or Best Friends Bed & Breakfast Blend. I even add Latakia to Peretti’s Tashkent, which is 50% lat. Still,I will occasionally recharge my taste buds with Sutliffe Match Walnut (soon to disappear sadly) or Sir Walter Raleigh. As for pipes, I own 60. A wide variety, with an emphasis on 50s-60s classic English brands — Comoy’s, BBB, GBD, Sasieni, plus one Dunhill and one pre-transition Barling. For basically sentimental reasons, I also have a number of Kaywoodies, Grabows and cobs. And a couple of Peterson’s, Savinellis and Stanwell. Whew; I think that’s enough for a start. Looking forward to meeting you all, although I probably won’t be a daily, or even regular poster. At 78 years old, it’s just not my style. But I’ve been reading so many ridiculous posts about the STG situation, that when I read Leonard’s latest post, I couldn’t resist jumping in. And then, as I said, felt I should introduce myself. First name is Mark, btw.
Howdy . I usually just stick to one forum but I figured Id join in on here also being it seems to have a good line of sight into STG . Hope all is well in your world
Good Evening All, New to the gang here and looking forward to gleaning some wisdom from you all. I was introduced to the pipe by a gentleman that ran a bed and breakfast with his wife my family frequented. Smoked a blend that smelt of freshly baked cookies and had a white beard that was stained around the mouth from his pipe. Reminded me of an old scottie terrier. I picked up my first pipe in college where I was fortunate enough to have a tobacconist in town. Been sipping that sweet smoke for more than a decade since. Enjoy milder tobaccos with a sweeter tone(the Mrs. appreciates blends that aren’t too offensive to her nose) but open to any suggestions for a smooth smoke. Have a handful of pipes but find myself usually choosing one that extends past the end of my whiskers. The go to for now is a Savinelli Punto Oro. Hope you all are doing well. Keep your pipes lit.
@Ruffinogold thanks for the welcome. How did you hear about this site? I used to listen to Country Squire Radio back in college sporadically and started up again lately. This place came up in their discussions. I’m from northern Wisconsin and don’t have much for pipes or pipe clubs in my area. TPL seemed like a great fit instead.
@Zouave1864 thank you for the welcome and for cultivating a place that we can be a part of. It’s a unique place to have a dialogue about something we hold in common…and about anything else that might pop up.
@MrMustache ... I joined here because its attached to STG , which is creating a stir , and I was hoping to get info on their future ideas . Ive been " Ruffingold " online now for probably 15 years at 1 pipe forum and figured I should join another that was attached to the industry leader Plus , there are some really great people here , come to find out

Welcome to the forum. This Pipe Life is different than the other, bigger forums but that's not a bad thing.
