@mapletop I'm glad you found and enjoyed the Wicked Tinkers. I've come to really enjoy their interpretation of pipe music, taking something traditional and putting their own spin on it. If it brings you good memories of your grandfather, then I'm glad I shared it.
@motie2 I didn't expect to find dungeon synth posted in this thread, but that album is pretty good. I know I'll be listening to that at work on Monday.
@ghostsofpompeii After playing your YouTube music post (which was awesome) the next up song was "Love on a Real Train" by Tangerine Dream. I thought it was neat since that song has been my favorite in the modular music category for quite some time... Also, back to your post, if you haven't read Eric Clapton's autobiography, I highly recommend it...
Don’t know if I mentioned it but had a chance to see Air-Men of Note a few weeks back, for those that may not know it’s the US Air Force Jazz Band. These guys and gals are tremendous musicians. What a night.
There are times when I really need a quiet moment to conduct business and I will select a meerschaum pipe, some Boswell’s Mild English and listen to “Gregorian Chant” for the relaxation and concentration for the task that needs to be accomplished.
Hello pipe and tobacco aficionados, hope all is well out there. Christmas has come and gone with the New Year just a day away. Listening to Terence Blanchard and enjoying for the first time a holiday blend called "Winter Fire." I have been enjoying this blend and it appears to fit well for me during this time of year. As time moves on I am looking forward to enjoying another new blend, (new to me) because I understand it has been around for some time. I have been smoking a pipe for many years and I never had this blend of tobacco, reason being just never have. The blend is "Esoterica Tobacciana Pembroke." I have read many things about this blend, so if you don't mind please share your thoughts about it. I will be on cruse control during New Years Eve and New Years Day with family, great music, great tobacco blends and something in a glass :-). Remember, Keep smoking what you like and like what you smoke. Happy New Year to all of you. Thanks for being out there.
Been going through a Jethro Tull phase this past week. It began with the "Jethro Tull Christmas Album" then I moved on to the band's other titles. And the more music I listened to, the more apparent it became to me that the tunes of Ian Anderson and company embody the holiday spirit. Several albums such as "Songs From The Wood" and earlier works like "Benefit" have that cheery Christmas feel to them. One might attribute this to the flute and occasional use of the mandolin and nylon acoustic guitar which are incorporated with the traditional rock instrumentation (guitars, drums and keyboards). The compositions and catchy melodies are something one might expect to hear from a band of raveling troubadours during the time Robin Hood and his Merry Men took refuge in Sherwood Forest.
