I realize it sounds pretty bland but since today is the day I fast (I alternate days) I'll be drinking mostly Sparkling Water. That little bit of carbonation tricks the mind into thinking I'm having some sort of soda. Regular bottled water doesn't have the same effect ... but Sparkling (or Soda Water) does. And I also discovered that Sparkling Water and Tonic Water are different animals. Tonic Water may have a sugar product in it whereas Sparkling Water has absolutely nothing in it. I did find one 'off brand' that had added sodium ... but once I discovered that I haven't bought it again. So today will be either Sparkling Water, bottled water, black tea, or black coffee.
@motie2 Sounds good, but I think it would be simpler and probably cheaper to just add bourbon to my coffee I do like a capful or so in my hot tea, more and it just overpowers the tea, and if I want that, I'll just drink the bourbon straight
Drinking some Tincup American Whiskey straight up with some iced soda water on the side while smoking some Samuel Gawith/Stokkebye 4th Gen Aged Virginia broken flake.
Java.................I put 2 scoons some coffee w/ Chicory in this basket of grounds for a bit more of a robust flavor. Smoking some of Rattray's Red Rapparee in my riusticated Bent "Benner" Nielsen.
Had a @Londy3 style Old Fashion (with Bacon) before dinner and it was very good; which has now given me an idea for enhancing the bacon flavor in the drink by grinding the cooked bacon and steeping the drink in the bacon for a while and filtering it off.
@RockyMountainBriar what you describe there is what we call a Cafe Royale. It's something many of my Italian uncle's did after dinner. It's really good.
ending the night by cracking open some of the local brew, Other Half Daydream and some of the local B&M tobacco called "her favorite" in an old Masterson.
@RockyMountainBriar lol, I'm not going to lie, about ten months into this damn lock down with a house full of kids and home schooling about to start, I'm just about ready to drink rubbing alcohol. 😂
So I tried my idea of the bacon infused old fashion, it was a fail. the salt and the grease sort of changed the whole nature of the cocktail while not really enhancing the bacon flavor.
So it seems it is best to just insert the strip of cooked bacon as a condiment, on a side note, bourbon infused bacon crumbles aren't bad
I use a dedicated machine. The low tech way is a cast iron pan and spoon for stirring. The next step up is a hot air popcorn maker or a drum for a rotisserie. I also have a hot air dedicated roaster.
This one roasts 8 oz. of green coffee and ends with just over 6.5 oz. of roasted coffee in about half an hour cool to cool. I roasted this batch at 465 max temp.
@Balisong I roasted some Ethiopian Yirgacheffebeans a few months ago. I did 8 pounds of green coffee beans in 1/2 pound batches. I did not roast quite as dark though, I prefer a lighter roast. I used a WhirlyPop, it is surprising how easy and actually fast it is.
Nice looking roast @RockyMountainBriar, I find Ethiopian a bit thin so I add about 25% more beans by weight to get a richer cup. I generally try to stop the roast so the brew stays bright with litte to no bitter taste.

Love chicory. French Market Coffee used to be the only cans available with chicory. Now I buy chicory online and add it to taste.
So did you blow your pipe smoke into the tumbler and cover for a few min? That works great too. I do it all the time 😉
The beer looks unfiltered, it should have some mouth-feel 🙂. Interesting. Is it a milk stout?
Dang, it was looking promising until you mentioned IPA😖
To paraphrase? @KABUL07, ‘Drink what you like and like what you drink’ 🙂
Whatever pickles your liver👍🏻😬
Conventional wisdom is that everyone will come out of this with a new hobby...... or alcoholism.
Wait........That’s not funny😜
Very little about our current situation is funny.
I think I have actually seen bourbon bacon somewhere🤔
A press pot of Ethiopian Yirga Chaffee . My wife bought some green beans that I roasted yesterday.
Could you maybe describe your process? Temp? Time? Utensils? Yada...... Thanks!

Strong coffee and No bitterness👍🏻 I do like the lighter roast, a little more “stone fruit” than “cocoa“ flavors.
