Temp went up to 33 today. But the sky was clear and the sm shining, and I hadn't been out of the house for almost two months, except tp go to the ER or the doctor's office, because of the damn sciatica. I also had not had a bowlful in an even longer time.... since it got cold. Anyway, the snow is all gone so I went and sat on the rea deck and fired up a bowl of 50/50 Barbados Plantation and Sunset Rum, both by Sutliff, in my original Carey apple..
@motie2 Hey buddy.....I have been having back issues again as well. Started over a week or so ago when I had to move two 42 lb. boxes of Kitty Litter from the front porch to the basement. Work has been killing me, and I am again walking like a crab.
I have Severe Spinal Stenosis. I have had surgeries, epidurals, physical therapy, a Tens unit, transdermal ointment to help with the pain, oral medications (which I will not take), and several heating pads. Bottom line is this is how it is going to be for me. I know exactly what you are going through, and I would not wish this on my worst enemies.
One of my PTs years ago explained the spasm/ pain cycle to me, and I used to be able to break that cycle after a week or so of heat and stretching. Anymore, when I get these episodes I cannot control the cycle and I just have to wait it out. And of course right now I am in the middle or so of a 16 week remote consulting gig, and sitting on a stool, bending, stretching, etc. is just killing me. But I have to work. No rest for the weary.
About the only time I get to smoke my pipes is in my "pick em up" truck coming home in the afternoon. Between my posterior and the brutal cold we have been having that is the only time I am somewhat comfortable and warm enough to smoke. I actually have all the papers signed to get another back surgery, but I am not going to. They want to install a Titanium Rod (I think that is what it is) spanning 5 vetebrae to stabilize 3 (ain't going to do it as it is life altering especially at just under 70 YO).
So I truly hope and pray that you feel better soon. I am probably a lost cause. Smoke something good for me.
In all my years of piping, I have never tried CB Cherry. However, I have often bought Pallidin Black Cherry despite what everyone says. I will mix it 50/50 with perhaps Lane BCA, and I love it with Sutliff Vanilla Custard.
I have tried Cult Blood Red which I personally do not rate higher than the Pallidin. Just my $0.02.
The CBC wasn't bad, just felt like it needs to be mixed. So I mixed with CBD, going to let it sit awhile. I did another mixture as follows,Sutliff Sunset Rum,Sutliff Spiced Rum,and a pinch of Sutliff Pumkin Spice. Did not use up all the blends just in case it turns out not to my liking. I'm feeling good about this combination however.
@pwkarch -- In any event, I wish for you a complete healing.
I had a congregant who had the titanium rod up the vertebrae surgery. It was also for scoliosis. I her case, the surgery was successful and life changing. I wish you the same, when and if.
Just settling in for a long winters smoke with some Peretti London Flake in my Savinelli Autograph 6, just had another winter storm blow through Cleveland.
@Deadpool57 I see you and I are in the same boat. I'm Granite City and fired up my space heater in the garage. It ran constantly but once I lit up a bowl of Molto Dolce, the cold went away and all was right in the world. Come see me at the pipe show. I'll have a table selling refurbs and it will be nice to meet a fellow TPLer... FYI the green leaves in the pic are plastic. I don't have to tell you that nothing is living in this weather...
Just smoked a 40 year old Niemeyer Irish Aromatic in one of my Corey pipes. Bit more of a nic hit than I expected. Then again I just got over being sick so maybe my resistance is a bit down.

Heaven.
