I brought out my “Jeep Pipe”, a Kant Security Lovat with built in wind-cap. It work great when I’m driving my Jeep with the doors off. I loaded it with some C&D “Espresso” for the drive home this evening and a nice relaxing after work smoke on my front porch and patio. I just got back inside, the weather is beautiful today.
Smoking some C&D “Kelly’s Coin” from 5/2020 in a Musico Floodlight “Dublot”? “Lovelin”? this evening. This burley tobacco doesn’t change much with age compared to virginia tobaccos.
Had my first bowl after being sick for a good while. This mornings blend was called "Barneys Nip" and was in my MM Ozark Mountain Bent Cherry. This is a blend from a local B&M in Mt. Airy North Carolina where the Andy Griffith show was shot. The Barney in question is of course Barney Fife. First time trying this blend as it was a sample from a friend. Definitely in the style of a drugstore codger blend. Tasted and looked like mostly burley with maybe some virginias but if so they didn't stand out. Obviously cased or topped with something sugary. It may have had some rum or anise like qualities but was overall just a neutral sweetness. Kind of reminded me of Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic.
Took a morning walk over the grounds this morning while smoking some LL-7 in a T. Christiano Metamorfosi. 15 - 20 people observed me as I did my lunting. 4 people commented on the nice aroma, and 1 told me he now wished he'd brought a pipe. I only recieved 1 "stinkeye" and I quickly scratched that off as ignorance...
Last night's pipe was C&D Autumn Evening in a Country Gentleman. The more time I spend with it I think the less I like it. We'll see once I finish the tin. Today's lunch pipe, if it happens, will be Boswell's No Bite Delite out of a Ozark Mountain Bent Cherry.
Made it back from Branson, mowed and trimmed my yard, showered and took the wife out for a quick meal. Now relaxing with some Lane 1Q in a restemmed and reworked Paronelli...
I loaded up a small MM Eaton with some of the Samsun tobacco that my little brother grew in his greenhouse for me back in 2017. I started the plants and then transplanted them to his greenhouse, then he took over from there. This is the first I have smoked any, I think🤔. It’s pretty dry, but I loaded it anyway. I’m happy to say, it’s smoking fine, and it’s definitely an oriental, perfect. I am going to add a couple of humidity buttons and let is get a little more moisture in it.
I just finished the little MM Eaton, now I’m loading some of my home grown burley from 2016 that I steamed, then pressed into a plug with some Meyers Dark Rum and some Malibu Coconut Rum. I have sliced it with an antique “Teck 1” cutter, that I refurbished, into some fine cut shag. I’m letting it dry a bit before stuffing it into my MM “Tiberius” (I decided I hated the original weird swirly pattern long stem and swapped in a short white one). The longer stem was ok, but the pattern was “spacey”, I like the short white stem much better.
@mfresa Did you ever get some smokeable tobacco out of your tobacco growing endeavor?
I spent the day potting seedlings and watering ducklings. I just loaded an MM Pride with a maiden run of GH Bosun Cut Plug and the first taste I got was yuuuck, Lakeland essence! Luckily that went away and the tobacco's settled down to a nice smoke.
@RockyMountainBriar, yes, I did get some smoke-able tobacco, although it is hanging in the barn, and probably very brittle by now. The plants never got to full maturity, as the cold weather hit before the seed pods became mature. I decided not to try it again this year (so far) as the space is being used to grow potatoes, and food is more important to me. Maybe in the future...
No time to burn a bowl today. Funeral this morning and a celebration of life this pm. These two will mark four in the last couple of weeks. I think I've commented before that when you live most of your life in the same area you attend a lot of these services. When you reach your 70's they seem to accelerate. I often wonder if it is an indication that my Bride and/or I are moving up on the waiting list. Burn a bowl and tip a glass to my late friends, Brothers.

Another new Aero, but a Rind (rusticated) Poker this time….much less expensive.

It looks like you’re out in the “sticks” there.
Southern Missouri is God's Country, you know.

We're all in line to go brother, we just don't know what our position is in that line...
