Gawith & Hoggarth Brown Irish X, in a Todd Johnson Blasted Calabash with a Macassar Ebony cap and shank ring, weighing in at 75 grams. I was extremely fortunate to acquire this piece from Bobby Nesbitt, and he informed me that his was Todd's best prototype for his BriarWorks Calabash line.
Smoked a 30+ year old Dr. Grabow that will no longer unscrew but smokes great, and cleans easily with a pipe cleaner. And in it a Russ' Monthly Blend SPRING TRAINING.
Ready Rubbed in a Wally Frank POM Sitter. I like RR but this pipe doesn't handle it right. Too many relights and too hot. I'll try other tobaccos in it. Handled BCA fine.
Just finished a bowl of my special blend Root Beer Float in a pear wood Calabash. Beautiful, but windy evening - unfortunately the mosquitoes seem to have arrived early this year so they cut my evening smoke much shorter than expected.
@Phillip They were terrible last year. it was the first time I couldn't go in the backyard to barbecue because mosquitoes would swarm and attack. In the amount of time it took to flip a burger I'd have two dozen bites on my face, arms, and back. The little bastards like to fly under my glasses causing me to smack then and drive my glasses into my nose. Doing more damage to myself than the mosquito, who would inevitably fly away unscathed with my precious blood dripping from his filthy proboscis. We had several cases of West Nile Virus in my location last year so that makes it extra scary. And I'm one of those people who must have an allergy to mosquitoes. There have been time I look like Quasimodo after a particularly vicious swarm attack. My eyes will be swelled shut, my lips take on the ducklike appearance of a Hollywood starlet who overindulges in collagen injections, and I'll have more red bumps on my nose than a teenager with acne on Prom Night.
Had a good time at the New Orleans Pipe Club meeting last night. Smoked some April Dawn, a bulk named French Quarter, Vanilla Cream, Scottish Mixture and some Mixture Flake.
Made two new pipe smoking friends as we welcomed two newcomers to the club.
Good Beer, Good Food, Good Pipe Tobacco and Good Friends - what more can you ask for?
Frog Morton Cellar in MM Country Gentleman, while vanquishing my nemesis (any and all snakes). I work the swing shift and get home around 2330 and as smoking and walking to my detached garage had to take one out with a shovel. Sorry to anyone who cares for the vile creatures.
Just finished a 50/50 mixture of Sutliff Rum & Maple and Maple Walnut. My garage smells like International House Of Pancakes. Smoked it in my Big Ben Calabash.
Just finished a short bowl of Panama Jack's Key Lime in a Bacaccini Pocket Pipe. It's a bit smaller than I expected it to be but it was good for about a fifteen minute smoke.
