Just finished a bowl of the blessed Mrs. Hudson's in a Duncan Hill Aerosphere. The rear deck has been in sun all day. Why isn't it raining, like it has almost every freakin' day leading up to today? Maybe Spring has sprung and summer is really on the way.
Just finished a bowl of Sutliff Coconut Almond in my Dr. Grabow Grand Duke. Sadly it's one of the only Sutliff aromatics that burns hot and gives me tongue bite. This is one blend I won't be restocking in my cellar when the jar is empty. Coconut Almond is best when gingerly added to a chocolate or vanilla blend to tone it down somewhat. The taste isn't bad at all ... like toasted coconuts, so it can add quite a bit to what it's mixed with. But smoked by itself ... the pain afterward isn't worth it. .
Just finished a bowl of "Officer's Club" from India Trading Post in my broken Dragon Claw pipe. Since breaking it I haven't given it a moment's peace. Pipe etiquette be damned. I've smoked this three days in a row.
Since opening the tin I can't seem to pull myself away from "Officer's Club" from East India Trading Company. Smoking it in my Big Ben Jade bent brandy.
@motie2 I think you'd really find this tobacco to your liking as well. The tin note is astounding - as is the room note. The flavor is exactly what you might expect from a rum custard. Not some sweet vanilla pudding with a touch of artificial rum flavored extract to make a faux rum custard ... but the kind of honest to God creamy rum custard served at an upscale restaurant with a heavy dose of real rum. An extremely flavorful smoke - but strangely not one I'd consider sweet. Great smoking experience. Don't care how overstocked my tobacco cellar may currently be ... I'm buying some extra tins of "Officer's Club" and convince my wife they're my Christmas presents.
@mseddon Wow, that's a real mixed bag of emotions you must be going through ... a funeral and a wedding. Two families ... one experiencing the saddest day in their lives - another celebrating the happiest day in their life. And somehow you must juggle your emotions. Never an easy thing to do. When it's all over a little 'me' time with the pipe might help re-set the balance.
Just finished a bowl of Cellar Reserve from India Trading Company in my Custom-Bilt. Very nice tobacco but didn't like it as much as Officer's Club. Still need to try Royal Challenge then I'll write an in depth review of all three. But for the moment it was a great smoke on a very hot summer night.
@ghostsofpompeii, yeah, not an ideal sequence of events. But people help each other. The bride- and groom-to-be came and sang at the funeral, and the family of the deceased insisted on scheduling so that the wedding could have its own day. And they both left me alone between the two to recharge.
