@motie2 Thanks @motie2, I had already seen those sites and write-ups a few years ago. I have had this pipe for quite awhile, but it was the first time I have tried to smoke it since I refurbished it. No instructions on how to actually load and smoke them though, at least none I can find.
After a fine meal at Burger King, (I sat inside and ate like a civilized human being ) I'm enjoying a bowl of Captain Black classic in a Missouri Meerschaum Legend. It did my morale a world of good just to get out and eat almost like things are normal.
GOOD stuff......I still cannot name a winner in my book between the Lane VBC and the wonderful Sutliff Vanilla Custard........so my answer is simply for me to smoke both and enjoy them. Problem solved.
Tell us about the 79. Many mock it while others continue to buy it, which is why it achieved codger status. What’s it like? I am biased, based on my smoking it around 1967/8.
Well, Felix really wanted to go outside and explore, so we did. I’m finishing off the last of my C&D “Innsmouth” in a Charatan 461DC and drinking a Lewis & Clark “Back County” Scottish Ale, brewed in Helena, Montana. The wind finally died down to where I don’t need the windcap👍🏻
Had the grandkids Friday, overnight, then into late Saturday afternoon = no pipe. So I'm now enjoying some Sutliff Old Vienna in a reworked noname billiard...
@opipeman You would think the pins would be available through TPL? Not so far🙁 I think TPL should send a pin to everyone here that is a master, if not as soon as they sign up. I was fortunate enough to get one with the help from a friend here on TPL a few years ago when he went to the St. Louis? Pipe Show, great guy. I will let him take it from here if he wants to, he know’s who he is 🙂.
Smoking some Lane Ltd. “BCA” in a Peterson XL220 Flame Grain. Did I ever mention how much I love this tobacco😬. Tasty, tasty stuff and awesome room note to boot. Sorry @opipeman, I had to taunt you with the TPL pin. I know, what an ass am I.

”Surprised” because most often that stuff is hard to find......
Love that VBC
Cross Eyed Cricket is on my favorite list.......
The ultimate rum blend is Cross Eyed Cricket ("rum punch") mixed with Barbados Plantation (Barbados rum).
Tastes as good as it smells.

Where did you get the THIS PIPE LIFE.com pin on your vest show a couple of days ago?
