The pipe looks better in person, the camera makes it look kinda dingy, but you can see how it darkened. I used white beeswax, not yellow. I’m going to throw some C&D “Kelley’s Coin” in it and give it a whirl with a nice Sumatra bean flat-white kafé.
It’s been raining nonstop all day today, but I’m enjoying this brief respite before it kicks in again. C&D’s Manhattan Afternoon in my Stanwell Liverpool pipe.
My taste buds must be going through some changes because I normally don't like fruit flavored tobaccos. It took a long time to find a cherry blend I was satisfied with (Captain Black Red Sky), but after smoking a bowl of Cult "Blood Red Moon" I really took to it today. Up until this afternoon I've been pretty wishy washy about the blend. But today I experienced a near Nirvana smoke.
I followed-up with another fruit flavored blend (peach) that I wasn't particularly keen on before - Ole Shenandoah "Fuzzy Schnapps" - and once again it proved to be a near perfect smoke.
I'm sure it wasn't the pipe because I was smoking a cheap Dragon's
Claw pipe I purchased on EBAY that isn't even made of briar. Yet somehow
that combination made for a wonderful afternoon smoking experience.
Maybe being under Covid-19 house arrest for so long has pacified me into
submission.
Regardless, if it had something to do with being in a positive frame of mind or if my taste in aromatic has changed - either way I'm glad I no longer have to relegate the tins to the back of the cellar. Both "Blood Red Moon" and "Fuzzy Schnapps" have found a place in my regular rotation.
Getting ready to fire up some Lane 1Q in a @Corey562 (Abb Brown) artisan pipe. His pipes always bring out the best smoking experience possible given the blend choice...
Smoking my Luciano Squat Bulldog with some Gawith & Hoggarth “American Peach” with a Blue Dolphin on-the-rocks this evening. It is pretty windy, but the outside temperature is awesome, even in the shade. I also decided to harvest some “Pineapple Weed” for some tea later. “Pineapple Weed“ also goes by “Wild Chamomile”. It grows wild in the hard packed gravel in front of my big garage. It is tedious work picking the small cone flowers, but occasionally it is worth it. There are times like this that I wish I had sired some children for little “harvest monkeys”, of course, had I started when most people do, they would be 20-30 years old at least by now. I guess then it would have been grandchildren....or even great-grandchildren. Well, one can dream. Not having children is my biggest regret, although I haven’t given up exactly...quite the optimist huh?
@motie2 My SWMBO says that, every now and then, I clean up pretty good... Well, I'm not sure about the "pretty", but hopefully the good still applies... 🙄
@jfreedy Don't I know it I think that having kids now would keep me young...or just flat out kill me? Anthony Quinn had a few when he was older too...he was 81 when he had his last one.
Watching the rain come down and smoking a custom blend made by a cop in New Jersey. Met on a Facebook pipe page and got to chatting. So he sent me some. Good stuff.
@motie2 I am the eldest of my five siblings, my dad was 36, which means when my youngest sibling was born he was 47. She was only 14 when he passed. I think about that and wonder if having children very late in life gives them the short end of the stick....such as maybe not playing ball? If I was blessed with children of my own at my age, I would do my best to “play ball”.

I think that is why it's turning so fast...
And your right, the pics never seem to really bring out all the beauty...
Today, having some Mark Twain on a new to me Dr. Grabow Grand Duke. Beautifully restored by @KA9FFJ! Thank you sir!
Those Grabows smoke wonderfully.......how is that Mark Twain, and where is my friend Vinny?
There he is, that cute little bowlegged, beagle headed, beast of burden Buttlicker.
Dr. Grabows and Savinellis are my favorite brands of pipes. They are both in my price reach. KA9FFJ does good work!
Distinguished lookin’ dude.....
Every now and then we all deserve for the stars to line up and shine down on us. Maybe its Karma, who knows? Just enjoy the ride!
