One of the best buddy, and at anytime of the year. In addition to several ounces in my "go to" jar, I have twp pounds resting in my cellar. You will probably also like Sutliff Black Kathy, Sutliff Black Spice, Sutliff Black Vanilla, and Sutliff ZBC. I am a big Sutliff fan as perhaps this suggests. All of these blends are very similar with just tiny differences in the individual spice tastes. They are so close I think you could mix them all together and the mix would be good. You might also try Sutliff Burma Road which is a Virginia base with Latakia which is in a different genre and a slight departure from aros. My favorite Sutliffs are Vanilla Custard and Chocolate Mousse. And I suppose if cornered I would say the Christmas Spice is my third favorite......but who is counting?
Another suggestion for a Christmas Desert smoke is to mix Lane Dark Red (or I guess any favorite Cherry Tobacco) with the Sutliff Chocolate Mousse at 50/50. You would swear you were smoking chocolate covered cherries.
See guys, that is why this is such fun. The combinations of blends and tastes are limited only by our imaginations. OR, you can be less imaginative and smoke wonderful blends as they are sold with no alterations.
"Its a Wonderful Life" if you embrace it (and don't give up).
@pwkarch Sutliff is quickly becoming some of my favorite. Vanilla Custard is my goto in order to add vanilla flavors to any other blends as well as smoke it by itself. I can't wait to try the blending of the three y'all told me about a while back!
@motie2 You got me curious about Sutliff Barbados Plantation so I put it on my secret santa wishlist. My awesome Santa really came through for me and got me some. I believe it has pushed to the front and become my absolute favorite tobacco thus far. So I thank you sir.
Nice.......I have on many an occasion mixed either VC or CM with Carter Hall, but never both. My assumption is you got a caramel flavor with he two Sutliffs (vanilla + chocolate= caramel?) then mixed with Carter Hall. Actually sounds good, I am going to have to try that.
@motie2 , Thank you for the recipe and review. 50% VBC, 25% RLP-6, 25% BCA. I tried a 1/3 of each mixture today and it was also good, but I will add extra vanilla to the mix and retry it.
2.5 hours later I'm finally finished with reports from a foot chase and arrest from yesterday.... Having a bowl of Barbados Plantation to celebrate being done while waiting for whatever gets thrown at us next.
buflosab mixed all three at once. My recommendation was either VC or CM mixed with Carter Hall 50/50, making two separate blends. He apparently mixed all three in one blend which, again, is why these experiments are fun. I am going t\o try all three blends in one mix as he did.
The name is a reference to Sherlock Holmes' landlady. Since Holmes probably smoked a strong English blend naming a sweet aromatic after him would be inappropriate.
The blend consists of Sutliff bulk tobaccos blended together as follows:
Three parts (or 3 oz.) Sutliff Vanilla Custard
Two parts (or 2 oz.) Sutliff Chocolate Mousse
One part (or 1 oz.) Sutliff Crème Brulee
Comments:
The original recipe by @ghostsofpompeii contained, “…a pinch or two of Sutliff Irish Creme." @ghostsofpompeii says its inclusion is optional.
Also, one may substitute Sutliff Private Stock Molto Dolce for the Creme Brûlée, as the two are very similar, with the Molto Dolce being a bit sweeter.
@ pwkarch and motie2, This was my thinking on the 3 blend mixture, I knew Chocolate Mousse and Vanilla Custard were a couple of blends used in Mrs. Hudsons blend so I couldn't go wrong their. I also knew I would be mixing the Carter Hall so I gave it a try. A method to my madness? At any rate My hope is someone will like it. Bottom line I just like mixing blends and hope for the best. Blends like CH and Captain Black Gold are just begging to be mixed.@pwkarch, I would really like to hear your opinion good or bad when you decide to dive in. Your reviews are so much more informative and detailed, something that I can only wish for.

Love the photo! Way to share the Christmas spirit here!
Now I’m smoking some Sutliff Christmas Spice in my ‘60s Kaywoodie pot. Very mellow aro! Probably my favorite Christmas blend.
