I find that I have been smoking more. Since Monday, I finished off three more tins. The 100g tin of Peterson's Founder's Choice I opened in April is no more. Also gone is a100g tin of Peterson's Special Reserve 16 which I first opened in December 2019. And then yesterday, I smoked the last two bowls of my Robert McConnell Ripe Honeydew which I jarred last July.
That's in addition to the 2 oz. bags of Watch City Cigar's Java Java and Old Black Magic., and a 50g tine of Davidoff Flake Medallions. There's also a couple of things I have opened and am slowly working through like 50g tins of McClelland Master Penman and Vauen Auenland - The Shire.
By my estimate, I have smoked about 300 grams of tobacco since the end of March.
Not sure if you would call this a way of keeping sane or not, but it has helped pass the time. There are about 6 more small ones not pictured. Does this make me sane or crazy?...
@KA9FFJ Make sure you sign, date and add where they were made.🙂
I do on pretty much everything I make, it will be my only legacy.
I wonder about someone in the future long after I am gone finding it and wondering about its’ past, whatever the item is. I know I am interested in such things, but hey, I’m a history buff.
@RockyMountainBriar If I took all the reworked pipes I have reworked, priced and boxed for the St. Louis pipe show, I would have plenty of pipes to fill them. I have 38 "active" pipes that I am presently using. I am trying to hold that collection to a max. of 40... Wish me luck... 😬
@ghostsofpompeii; That is where my shed has saved whatever sanity I have left, I can get out of the house, walk around the yard or stay in the AC if it is too hot. Other than that I go to doctor appointments, the drug store or the grocery. I hate to go to too many places cause I hate wearing that Damn Mask. We go see our granddaughters once a week. So, all things considered life is good. Without a pipe now and then, it would be hell. Electro Shock Therapy, isn't on my agenda....yet!
Since the spring I've sent chickens to freezer camp, and, hatched chickens, ducks and turkeys. I've also grown tomatoes, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe and butternut squash along with herbs.
Yesterday I took my car to the dealership because the 3 year lease was up. My wife and I decided to buy the car rather than lease something else. The reason was two-fold. One, the new cars don't have CD players in them anymore and I have well over 2000 CDs. And I'm not about to pay additional money for satellite radio. And FM stations have been playing trash for about two decades now. So swapping out cars for another three year lease on a car without a CD player was a definite 'no go'.
But the main reason for keeping the car was we liked it ... and as an added bonus was it only had 12,300 miles on it.
The Dealer freaked-out when he read the odometer. He even said the car still had that new car smell. They used every trick in the book to sweet talk us into changing our minds so they could put the car on their lot as a used car with low mileage. Didn't happen!
And why did we have so little mileage on the car?
For nearly an entire year we've been under house arrest because of this friggin' virus. The few trips we did make were out of necessity to go to the grocery or drug store, or Doctor appointments, Haven't gone out to a restaurant, antiquing, nor have we made any trips to local festivals like we're accustom to, because everything has been cancelled. Might as well attach a lamp post with a security light to the bumper, place a potted plant on the trunk and a few garden gnomes and use the car as a lawn ornament.
Our 53rd. Anniversary is coming up at the end of the month and we planned on making our first lengthy road trip to Amish Country, but after spending two hours at the car dealer, forced to wear a mask throughout the entire time - soured us on the planned outing. My wife decided (and I agreed) that she had no desire to put her mask on and off as we walked from shop to shop in Shipshewanna. What a pain in the ass.
If this is going to be the new normal I imagine it will take another ten years for me to hit the 50,000 mile mark on my odometer. The undercarriage will rust out before I put enough miles on the car to rotate the tires.
I have a ‘93’ Chevy K1500 I special ordered from the factory which has about 190k on it now. It has never left me stranded. I don’t plan on getting rid of it.
A man and his truck, its a special bond. I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra that I bought in 2012. It had 20K miles on it. It now has 35K. I figure it will out last me. I love that truck and have enjoyed many a pipe full sitting behind the wheel.
It’s getting a little “long in the tooth“, just like me. Hopefully I am going to get some new nerf bars on tomorrow. I couldn’t get the bolts free today to remove the old rusted out ones, I must be getting weak🙁
