@motie2 I thought you'd like that. But you got to give it to Shatner for living life to the fullest and trying his hand at everything ... acting, writing, and even music. "Ponder The Mystery" is a progressive rock album featuring members of YES, Hawkwind and a variety of other well respected musicians in the field. I'm not sure what was going through their mind when asked to work on this project, but from everything I've read about the recording sessions the guys were having a good time. For a few years I was a music reviewer for the progressive rock site Prognaut, and one day Ron, the owner of he site sent me the Shatner CD to review. I liked it and gave it a glowing review. Here is a link to it:
Bernard Herrmann is my all time favorite filmscore composer. I probably listen to more of his soundtracks while on the computer than my rock albums. His soundtracks have the same quality to them as pipe smoking whisking me away to far away places where my mind is free to wander. There is both power and passion in his compositions. And the Mysterious Island and Journey To The center Of The Earth scores are perfect examples.
@xDutchx Good choice with the Allman Brothers, Howlin' Wolf, and Son House. Been listening to the Allmans more than usual (and blues in general) since Gregg passed. My all time favorite band. I saw many times over the years.
@bluespiper, yep I believe Gregg toured all the way up to the end, to the best of his ability. I think a lot of folks might have thrown in the towel much earlier, but I think he had a real connection to his fans.
As today is Father's day I thought "Cat's In The Cradle" might be an appropriate tune for new Father's out there to consider. In this hectic world we live in where it seems like there is not enough time for the little things in life, and both parents are forced to work to make ends meet - the lyrics to the song are even more relevant than ever.
