@OlePops I'm all legal now, formally subscribed. I usually watch you on the SmartTV and for some reason we have the TV set under my wife's YouTube name ... so I've been subscribed and watching your videos under her name. Now that I've rectified that you have two members of the family on your channel. One that smokes a pipe and another who doesn't. Love your reviews and laid back approach. Can't believe how many people look so comfortable on the camera. You being one of them. I made a feeble attempt at producing a video and was so nervous and tongue-tied I appeared to be a deer in the headlights with a speaking impediment. So I nixed the idea before I embarrassed myself and opted to stick with online forums where I seem to write better than speak.
@ghostsofpompeii - I appreciate the support. Thanks for watching. I don't call you guys lurkers, I call you watchers. Lurkers sounds like something you do from behind the bushes.
Howdy! I've already posted elsewhere on this site about the how, why and when I became a pipe smoker, under the "Feeling Alone And Lost" page. Just want to drop a 'Howdy, Brother' to y'all from the east bay, by way of Texas and Maine. I have a nearly fifty year long friendship with the briar. Not one to be a "pouch hopper", I find a blend I like and tend to smoke it exclusively. I recently rediscovered SWR tobacco and enjoy it immensely. I was an aromatic smoker from the Captain Black and the like mold. A few years back, my tastes changed to the more neutral varieties; I never could take much of English blends. Good to be here!
Welcome, @Briarbear - great to have you on the forum. To get a profile pic I think you just click on your name at the very top left of your screen. Pretty straight forward on a computer. Not sure if it's that easy on a phone or tablet though.
@Briarbear Welcome to the group my friend. I've been smoking for over 50 years and still haven't progressed beyond aromatics to more sophisticated blends. I've got almost 100 blends in my cellar and I think only four are English Latakia blends. I try every so often to pretend to be an adult and light up an English blend with varying results. One time I'll think ... "That wasn't so bad". The next time I end up with a headache and my mouth taste like I've been chewing wood from a campfire. Guess I'm just a 69 year old kid at heart with a sweet tooth. Probably explains why I'm a Type II Diabetic.
Smoke what you like and share your thoughts on your favorite blends with the group.
Hello all! I smoked pipes in the 1970-1980’s era, took a 30+ year hiatus while smoking cigars and came back to the pipe last July. I hang out on a few other forums and somehow found my way here a week or so ago. I recognize at least one of you and so feel at home, at least a little bit. I started back with my four old pipes and an 8oz tin of Potlatch. Since then the PAD and TAD have kicked in heavily. The pipe and tobacco market is much different and improved from 40 years ago, although more expensive; then again I have more disposable income. I’m glad I’m back to the pipe and haven’t smoked a cigar since July, although I maintain my humidor. I’m enjoying the journey.

@kellyg53 - My dad had an uncle who had a pig farm in Cannon Co., TN back in the 40's through the 60's. When I knew him he had two coon dogs named Pad and Tad. I never was familiar with it being any kind of disorder until I got online. Now...PHEeewwww! I got it bad!
When someone had been gone awhile and someone else would ask "Where is so-and so?", my dad would say "He went to take a $#!t and the hogs ate him." Still makes me chuckle

And a very cordial welcome to you, too!!!

Welcome, friend. Like you, I am primarily a one blend guy. Mine is Sutliff Barbados Plantation.
