Smoking some of the tobacco given to me by a fellow TPL member again tonight. This time it is KBV Embry’s “Spice Cookies”. It is remarkably similar to Captain Black Royal, same cut even.🤔. The pipe this evening is a Mountbatten Admiral Lovat. The more I smoke this tobacco, the more it smokes exactly like CB Royal, maybe with a hint of maple added, or more maple? I thoroughly enjoy this tobak.😋
The well pump crashed on Sunday, the new pump, controller and pressure tank are installed but after 3 failed attempts at snaking 270 feet of wire through the buried conduit they hooked up the wire on the ground and will hopefully get it finished today! I've been smoking mostly GLP Lagonda and Meridian in various cobs that all need to be cleaned.
Loaded some McCranie's Plymouth I acquired at the LV Pipe Show in a MM Charlestowne while watching my old roof being removed and a new roof installed...
@KA9FFJ; It always amazes me how fast they can strip a roof and lay down another. I used to do a little roofing in me younger days, but I was never that fast.
I helped strip and shingle my first house when I was 10-12 along with my 8-10 year old brother and my Uncle Jim (my father’s twin). We helped my uncle shingle his girlfriend’s house one summer. Can you imagine 8-12 year olds on a roof helping shingle a house these days? And yes, we were actually helping. I have helped shingle a friend’s house, and my mom’s house after a nasty hailstorm back in 1990-91. The same storm that cratered my friend’s new pickup and mine, they were the first new vehicles either of us had bought. We had bought them the same week, and we had them less than a month. I was at his house at the time, just a couple of blocks from my mom’s house. Some of the hail was tennis ball sized, with many racquetball/handball sized, and pretty hard. Interestingly, no windows were broken. I was ~25 and the biggest hail I had ever seen up to that point was maybe dime sized. Just my luck, first new vehicle, and the biggest damn hail I ever saw. It’s still the biggest hail I have seen, but a few storms since then have come close.
Started roofing as a summer job when I was 16. We didn't have compressors, hose lines, nail guns. Not to mention truck/cranes to forklift the bundles onto the roof. They've come a long way since I was a pup... Second bowl, same pipe and blend while showing off the annual fall "firing" of one our "burning bushes" (don't know the real name of these shrubs)...
Couple years back we had brick size hail about half a mile from my house. It was spiky. Shredded the vinyl off a house down the street. Ended up with a new roof on that one. Then winter came and discovered my new hot tub cover had meteor impacts all over it that shattered the vinyl. Hail flattened car roofs. It was amazing.
Smoking some more of the TPL gift tobacco this evening, Wilke “Maple Spice” in my Savinelli 320 KS SPC 20th Anniversary pipe. I’m not a big fan of maple, but this is ok, pretty tasty👍🏻
P.S. The first 1/3 was wet and gurgling, I had to clear the stem. I did not give the tobacco any air time. After the maple burned off at about 1/3 bowl, it was even better, for me at least🙂
Smoking some of the K&K L.E. “Wintertime 2021” I received from a generous TPL member. I have a bowl loaded and smoldering in a Ser Jacopo Delecta this evening.
Smoking a combo of St. Bruno’s Flake and Ready Rubbed, I thought the darkfired Kentucky in it would pair well with my hot Lapsang souchong tea’s smokiness. The pipe is a Tsuge Spider, Churchill.

Breaking in a new pipe, or just “sporting” it?🙂.
Nice pipe👍🏻
Is that your pipe's maiden voyage? It looks like it has never been lit. Pretty, though.

Yep, same here. No air nailers, and bundles of shingles carried up a ladder.
😬😳
You mean this?
WCC #558…tobacco or pipe?

Using one of my "BIM" pipes. This guy has turned out to be a really good smoker...
