@KA9FFJ She's just happy that I am home all the time and not out and about. Trying to remember what I packed in a bowl the day before but never finished never goes well. 😀
Getting the final details together for easy packing for the show this Saturday. Taking a break with some Tinderbox After Dinner in a noname reworked pipe. When it came time to restain, I did a 2-toned stain and I'm glad I did...
@Londy3 It has two doors/side by side racks. It is designed to rack 72 pipes, but It has another 50 laying horizontally on the shelves. I modified a countertop dual sided pool cue display cabinet. I cut it in half, made new shelves/supports, and attached the sides together with a backer board.
My brand new Pete SPD 2023 Lovat tonight. I wiped out the factory bowl coating with a damp, warm, paper towel, dried it with a fresh paper towel and let the chamber air dry a few minutes and loaded’er up. I picked some Peterson “Special Reserve 2014” for it’s inaugural bowl.
Can you tell where my cat goes through the blinds to sit/lay and look out the window🙂 P.S. I’m a terrible housekeeper.
@Zouave Yes, it’s a nice even “wind-swept” on both flanks, although each sides slants off (the same? opposite? direction)…..well, viewing the pipe from the left or right side, the grain slants from low to high, left to right, but very nice nonetheless. Except for a couple of tiny fills, it would probably have been graded higher and never made it to the SPD 2023 line.
@Zouave I got really lucky. I did not expect to even try to get one because of the initial retail price listed. They were quite a bit less expensive than the initial suggested retail. I was probably one of the first to get on the site when they dropped, luckily I knew I wanted a smooth 53, so I searched just that shape and went right to them. There were only three that I saw, and this one had the grain I liked best. I popped it in my cart and hit the PAY button, it took me less than four minutes. All the while I could feel the “sharks” swimming around me. I went back to just take a look at my other optional pipe shapes in case I did not get a 53. I saw a few smooths, but shapes I searched were 264 (Canadian), 127 (Small Bent Dublin), B42 (Big Apple)… they were gone. I think the smooth pipes basically sold out in an hour or less. I was too slow to even get to the Sandblasted shapes, they were gone.
@RockyMountainBriar I really wanted a sandblasted one. I looked as soon as they were dropped but missed them. Then I got an email that they got more and I missed them a second time. Guess it wasn't meant to be.
Super Bowl Sunday. I’d rather be sitting on the parade route wailing for another Mardi Gras parade. Smoking The Untouchables in my du Treil. Not sure of the shape. Du Triel was a pipe shop in New Orleans that closed in the early 70s. Algerian briar made in France.

I wonder if it will ghost the bowl
Nope, no book.
Yep, it ghosted it.
Does your wife ever get suspicious of you smoking stuff that you have no idea what it is?...
😉

There were only 1200 pipes (combined, I think?) sandblasted and smooth world wide. They “flew off the shelves”.
I'm really enjoying it...
