Doing some Pirate's Chest from a B&M in Old St. Charles, MO. Using a Knute freehand my wife bought for me at Jost's pipe & tobacco shop in 1968 for my birthday before we were married... ALWAYS been a good smoker...
My son isn't much of a pipe smoker, but here we are enjoying a bowl. His pipe is a Savinelli Estella and mine is a Savinelli Eleganza 111KS. I talked him in to trying some ESCUDO. Handsome Devil, don't you think? My son isn't bad looking either.
I decided to take a couple of days off for my birthday (18th), just because. I have a Pete “Sports” 6 pot loaded with C&D “Espresso” and a mug of Maxwell House (p.s. this is crappy coffee, but I got 5lbs. for free). It seems to taste a little better when it’s free🤔
It's just flat out hot here until now. Enjoying early evening with a little breeze on the front porch with some C&D Autumn Evening in a newish little Ebay pipe I have now placed in my loose rotation...
About two months ago I drove up near Milwaukee and visited a gentleman that runs a pipe repair service called Stem & Briar. I had him repair the Jost, as well as two of my Peterson’s that needed new stems. I picked this pipe back up last week, and I’m happy to say its going to be a faithful companion for years to come, all thanks to my fellow brother of the briar here.
@mapletop Hope you're feeling better real soon. A good incentive? I want to smoke my new pipes... I want to smoke my new pipes... I want to... well, you get the idea.
@opipeman I agree. I think @RockyMountainBriar had the right idea about how the patterns (all are unique) are created, by a dipping process. I'd like to see it done. Wish I could find a video on it...
Having a bowl of “St. Bruno Ready Rubbed” in the Barley Spigot while enjoying a cuppa java. My friend of 52 years that lives out of town near the crossroads at Ft. Rockvale, MT is raising? honey bees. He just spun his first honeycomb a few days ago and brought me a half pint jar of fresh unfiltered/minimally filtered honey. It still has pollen and small “floaties”, but no wax or anything larger than a fine cloth filter/strainer. It is wonderful stuff😋. I used it in my coffee, awesome. I don’t really like honey in tea, it overpowers the tea even when brewed as strongly as I like my tea. Coffee has enough flavor to hold up against the honey and it compliments it like I would never had imagined, I do use cream/creamer though to. I’m not sure what it would be like in black coffee.
@KA9FFJ Here is a Hydro-Dipping video. The pattern on your pipe looks like the “Cryptic”, just brown, and maybe a smaller pattern. I have seen where you can use normal spray paint (acrylic?) and just spray patterns on the water with multiple colors. It would have a kind of tie-dyed or camouflage pattern though, not specific. https://youtu.be/1l8A4yEyuA8
