Smoking one of the first five, and the first name brand pipe I bought back when I started this journey back in 2012. Yep, I know, still a newb. This is the first bowl through it that has not smoked wet as heck and gurgled, I almost gave up on it. I chamfered the tenon awhile back, it seems to have made the difference👍🏻 You guessed it, it’s loaded with C&D “Espresso”.
A double day! Some St. Bruno Ready Rubbed in the little Pete Barrel while watching a thunder/hail storm. Damn satellite ain’t work’in….stinking storm. At least my lawn is getting watered for free👍🏻
just got back from the yearly reenacting trip. Packed along the Ropp Cutty Churchwarden and a jar full of Country Squire Rivendell to share with the guys.
Smoking the last (this jar) of some C&D “Virginia Flake” from 2020 in a Savinelli Silver 404 this evening. Thinking about Savinelli’s, has one of their biggest fanboys, @vtgrad2003, been around?
@RockyMountainBriar You know, come to think of it, you're right. He's been absent for a while. 🤔 Maybe another fishing trip? I do hope nothing serious...
@PappyJoe let's see if this lights a fire under him... @vtgrad2003 "Go joe Biden! Best president EVER!!! AOC is the greatest! Nancy Pelosi is a genius who's brilliance is surpassed ONLY by Chuck Schumers!!!" 😂😂😂😂 If that doesn't get his attention I don't know what will. Now excuse me, I need to go wash my mouth out with rubbing alcohol.
@KA9FFJ I'm fine, but thanks for inquiring! This is my really busy time of the year job wise, been fishing too though. Below is what I caught last month on Hatteras Island (specifically, in Buxton, NC).
@PappyJoe Bite me! Remember, there's always you here too!
@vtgrad2003 Never said I wasn't here or that @motie2 didn't blame me also. In fact, he was more hurt because I didn't take his side on every argument and said I betrayed him.
@vtgrad2003; Glad you are OK and back. I for one missed you. Nice fish. @Zouave; Good work flushing our Brother out. Your next assignment is find Jimmy Hoffa.
Thanks buddy! I've been logging on for a minute here and there just to see what's up, but I haven't had time to actually post anything to speak of. Some of my work has subsided, though still slammed. Once we get closer to the start of the fall semester, things should level out; there's an old saying that if there's one period of the year university faculty don't work much, its while teaching, LOL!!!!!!
@vtgrad2003 your going to love this story. Im in the 1st. NY Engineers. Been a true blue Yankee for as long as I can remember. We have a great group of guys who are fantastic educators. Most of the guys are former combat engineers as well as top notch historians. The part you will love is this, the museum that was sponsoring the event, told us there will be no confederates, no mention of slavery. Apparently the "historical" village that we have been reenacting at for well over 40 years, is now afraid to teach actual history for fear of triggering or upsetting the patrons. They just want the watered down baby history from now on.
@jim102864 the good news was that in the absence of any enemy, we had plenty of time to sit around camp and enjoy our pipes, in hindsight that probably triggered the patrons as well. 😂
Smoking some Arrowhead Pipe Club blend in a S&R billiard, been smoking this exclusively, good stuff, will get more at the Columbus show, anybody else going?
Today I opened up a mason jar that I filled in July of 2020. It is what I call "The Shelby Foote Mixture" (2/3 half & Half and 1/3 Edward G. Robinson). The cellaring process has made it much milder. I need to let it dry out a little in order to keep it lit, but it is a great smoke. The beauty is that I have 3-1/2 Jars left. Love it!
Go figure! My wife and I go to civil and revolutionary war reenactments all the time (as observers) and while I'm a true-blood southerner, we have just as much fun talking to the Yankees as we do the Rebels. The entire reason for them is to recreate actual historical events, not gloss over them and pretend they don't exist. Those who ignore history tend to repeat it!!!
By the way, a long time ago we were with a friend of ours who was a Confederate at one of these events. We were sitting around with other Confederates as well as Yankees and he cracked this joke
"You know, Yankees are like hemorrhoids...if they come down but go back
up, they're okay, but if they come down and stay down, they're a total
pain in the ass!!"
Then the shit hit the fan! LOL The Yankees came back with one and it went back and forth like that until we were all laughing so hard we couldn't even speak anymore

Tnx brother for taking the time to find that video. At least I have a better understanding of the process...
Got to see the reenactment excercises at Gettysburg a few years back... Most impressive!
You know, come to think of it, you're right. He's been absent for a while. 🤔

He probably got bored without @motie2 to kick around.

So you've got to please yourself.
As long as you don't do it in the Garden Party.
I went to a garden party
To reminisce with my old friends
A chance to share old memories
Play our songs again
File that one under "Things You Can't Make Up". How ridiculous.
Been there done that and glad I don't have to do it anymore!
