In the pass month, I have finished off a tin of Molto Dolce, SPC Plum Pudding and a couple of ounces of aromatic bulk blends from a B&M in Baton Rouge. In an effort to finish off some jars of tobacco in my cabinet that are there because I tried them and wasn't overly impressed, I am now rotating through jars of Ashton's Smooth Sailing and CAO Bella Vanilla. The good tobacco in the rotation is Davidoff Scottish Flake.
Found a new pipe today in an antique store, so after giving it a good clean-up I christened it with India Trading Company "Officer's Club". The pipe is a vintage Danish-looking Burl King Thumbhole Pipe with a plateau rim. It's a big chunky impressive piece of wood made by the Shalom Pipe Factory in Israel. Clearly a holder and not a clencher. I was going to post a picture but figured I'd wait and post it on the Daily Briar Photoshoot in the next few days. Paid more than I wanted to but saw a similar one on Ebay with a starting bid $35.00 more than I spend for mine, so it made me feel better.
It's been a good day. Started with Molto Dolce in my cob, which I bought a few weeks ago and I find to be an excellent auro, then on to Squadron Leader, followed by C&D's Mississippi Mud, followed by Carter Hall which I'm enjoying right now. A beautiful weather day and pipe day.
Having a bowl of C&D's Gentleman Caller in my corncob. Reaching the end of this tin, and while it's not a favorite, I'll probably pick another tin up eventually. It has one of my all time favorite tin notes.
Hey Jud, did you have any trouble locating this string? I looked for it for 2 days and couldn't find it so I did a Reiteration. Then I see it on the list after posting..
Dug to the bottom of my tobacco locker and pulled out a tin of Independence Day 2015 that I bought in June 2015. Decided to pop it open and load it into a Missouri Meerschaum Cobbit.
More of that mysterious Gurkha Retribution no one seems to know anything about, and some SG Squadron Leader with some Dunkin Originl drip in me mug. My first ever tins of SG Full Virginia Flake and Orlik Golden Sliced arrived yesterday. They'll be popped open tomorrow night and likely enjoyed on the fourth too.
@motie2 Apparently I'm enjoying it much more than you did. But I can see where you would have been put off by it. Yet it's one of those blends I enjoy when I want to smoke but don't want anything exceptionally sweet. Those days don't happen that often ... but at least now I have something much better than Velvet or that Match version of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed I usually turn to.
Pretty damn hot out there today so I plan on cooling things off with Sutliff Frosty Mint in that Burl King Thumbhole Pipe. I'm really getting to enjoy that big chunk of wood.
