This morning I'm enjoying some of that fresh Charring Cross in an MM Diplomat. I have long thin drill bits coming in tomorrow so I can open up those acrylic stems on the cobs my wife gave me!
@PappyJoe; Apparently @vtgrad2003 invited me to come to his house and run errands and do chores. He meant the post for @pipeman83. @RockyMountainBriar cleared up the confusion and apparently @vtgrad2003 didn't invite me to his place. Therefor, I will not change my screen name to "pipewoman".
Decided to load up some LL7 in an old reworked "work pipe" and walk around the yard with my tank sprayer killing weeds... Does that qualify as lunting? 🤔
Getting ready to load this Radice Reverse Calabash with some Robert McConnell “Code:Relax” and pair it with a French press of the Yirgacheffe beans I roasted last weekend, with some steamed and frothed whole milk. It’s late, but tomorrow’s Friday, who needs sleep😉
This week I have been mainly smoking four different blends. Rattray's Winter Edition 2015 McClelland's Master Penman DTM Christmas Tobacco Kramer's Extra Smooth
The Kramer's is the only non-aromatic and I'm basically using it as a palate cleanser. I find that smoking it opens my senses up so that I can pick up the flavor nuances in the aromatics better.
We have also discovered SWMBO (sometimes) is not offended by the Christmas Tobacco. Sitting outside yesterday she noted that it smelled like cherries and/or a baking fruitcake. The blend is made from "A Traditional Black & Gold Mixture of selected bright Virginia tobaccos with Barley and Black Cavendish" but the company refuses to even hint around to what flavoring is in the latest iteration of the blend. Tobacco reviews only has the 2000 & 2001 editions listed and those were different blends (alcohol/liquor & Vanilla or alcohol/liquor fruit/citrus).
Pecan wood is lighter than Hickory but a little heavier than cherry or apple. It gives a light nuttiness to the meat. My brother even uses pecan shells when he smokes. It is perfect with pork and chicken.
As for my brother, he says the pecan shells make all the difference. It does impart a somewhat different flavor... But for better or worse is each person's taste. His family likes it.
What I meant by " too much Smoke flavor" is that some things like bacon and ham, it can be a good thing... Such as Hickory flavoring. But for say chicken or fish or cheese, a less heavy smokey flavor is often the desired effect. And I myself personally do not like heavy smoke flavor on some other foods. The only thing I like Mesquite flavor on is my potato chips.
8AM = grand daughter's soccer game... 10AM = grand son's football game... (both out of town) Got home, made lunch. Finally able to relax with some Lane RLP-6 in a reworked GBD. @RockyMountainBriar would like this pipe. It's a short little bent due to the fact I had to cut off 5/8" off the end of the stem, and create a new button...
I took a quick trip downtown to procure some leather working supplies a bit ago. I like this Kent Security Lovat with built in windcap for Jeeping around with the doors off. It is loaded with C&D “Espresso”.

Did you go to the Gatlin-Burlier tobacco shop while you were there?

Yep, picked up some Lane Butter Rum.
More and more cigars since last time (2 years)...
Dang, now I want a grilled pork burger.
Does that qualify as lunting?

As for this morning... John Bull in a MM Legend.
I have not used Pecan wood, is it totally different, or does it hew closer to say (apple, cherry) or (hickory, mesquite)?

I’ve not encountered that in my meat/fish smoking efforts.
But, what do I know?
In any event, I’ll have to get me some pecan wood.
BTW, @DSturg369, how did the pecan shells work out for your brother?

Nice work👍🏻 It actually does not really look that short in the picture. It must have had quite a long stem to begin with.
