When I was first introduced to scotch back in the mid-1970s, it was through Glen Fiddich and Glenlivet. There are a number of different expressions of both of those available today ranging from the age of the whisky when bottled to what type of barrels the whiskey was aged in and finished. The last bottle of Glenlivet I had was the Caribbean Reserve
I've tried scotch from all the different regions but I found my favorites were all Speysides - Tomintoul Tiath, Glenrothes.
That being said, my all time favorite scotch is a Highland. I absolutely loved Dalmore Cigar Malt Scotch until I could no longer afford it. When I started drinking it in the late 90s, I could buy a bottle for $39. The price climbed into the $50s and kept going up. The last time I saw it, the price was up around $145 - too expensive for my taste.
Since I don't like heavily peated, smoky scotch, I like to pair it with a good English or Scottish blend that is light on the latakia. I haven't really found an aromatic blend that I like to pair with scotch.
Just dug deep into the filing cabinet where I keep my jars of tobacco and pulled out my last jar of Rattray's Winter Edition 2015. Made by Kohlhase & Kopp, its flavors are supposed to be Almond, Cherry and Cinnamon. It's stills smells pretty good in the jar.
Just returned from a 4 day golf trip with a total of 20 guys. We all had a blast. 3 out of 4 days I was able to enjoy my pipes. Here I'm doing some Peterson Sunset Breeze in an Abb Brown tomato on our patio that backs #10...
Caught up yard work. Now relaxing on my front porch with some Half & Half in a reworked Dr. Grabow bent I've nicknamed my "half & half" pipe due to the pattern I was forced to create...
@KA9FFJ; I was wondering why you weren't posting lately. I envy you being able to play golf. I haven't been able to play for the last few years due to arthritis in my Pelvic Joint. To make matters worse all my Golfing Buddies have died except one and he has dementia. I still have my pipes, a great wife and family and can actually walk upright a couple of hours into the day. Life is good! Glad you had a great time.
@Balisong A post game celebratory bowl of Rattray’s Winter 2015 after watching the Saints beat the Patriots. Have to say Mac Jones is going to be special in a year or two.
@Zouave Thank you! Light as a feather, great clencher. It's an SP Estate find...I think I paid $70 for it...one of their "smoked but rather clean" pipes.
I will say this, though, with regard to the CRF 2019 that's in it; this was my last tin of 2019 I've been holding on to. When the 2020 batch came out, which was cultivated from a newer harvest, I compared it to the 2019 back then, and yes, they were different of course because they were of two different harvests (I think the 2019 came from a 2014 harvest), a little more peppery perhaps, not quite as sweet, but otherwise, it was still CRF all the way.
Going the other direction though, i.e., after smoking 2020 for a year then opening up this one, it's like night and day. One is not better than the other in my opinion, but now I find a ton of difference! Amazing what changing up the order does for taste testing.
C&D “Exhausted Rooster” (lightly rubbed out) in a Savinelli New Art 207. Hmm, I just fired up my room humidifier yesterday, getting ready for winter….it seems to be stoking my pipe a little when it comes on😳. I might need a wind cap inside🤔. I definitely, do not, want to burn this pipe out, it smokes like a dream.
I have an old Savinelli 313 that was one of my morning pipes until I switched to cobs, I think I'll load it up with some Charring Cross after dinner! Right now I'm breaking in an MM Let Freedom Ring with Peterson Flake.

Glenlivet is one of the scotch’s I have tried, I don’t remember if it one I liked though?

Having some SPC Plumb pudding barrel aged in my Friday Savinelli, of course!

Well, it IS a Savinelli after all 😁
You recognize quality when you see it LOL
Sav's rock!
