i waited the entire day to sit outside and enjoy some cult blood red Moon in the BC origine.....second I sat outside and lit it up, thunderstorm. I'm now in the garage. 😂
@RockyMountainBriar tried that, 97C cpu temp. Replacement arrived Saturday. Got my stuff setup and as soon as I connect the VPN, CPU temp spike and then it would step down the frequency until the machine was unusable. Cold restart and wiped PRAM and so far no issues. IT guys are seeing a rash of issues with Cisco VPN client so something likely going on there.
C&D Carolina Red Flake. Wasn't grabbing me so I pressed it for 4 weeks. I have had a COVID-19 vaccine but this plug is making me doubt my existence. There is only a hint of sweetness in this smoke and pretty without much flavor. There is absolutely nothing harsh or off flavors. It is simply a neutral smoke like smoking a mild Connecticut cigar. It is better pressed than fresh tin.
With pressed 515 RC-1 and Sutliff Red Virginia Crumble Kake there is sweetness and this wonderful red wine mouth feel. With McCraines Red Ribbon, granted it is very aged, it is like smoking pastry it is so Sweet.
In short, just throw these tins in the back. I don’t think it is bad leaf but I do think age will greatly improve the tin. The bottom half is improving as I smoke and type. This one just needs time in order to shine.
@AceFour, I've been thinking about trying Sutliff 515. I haven't come across a Virginia from them or C&D that I've added to my rotation, one more try the next time I place an order!
@bailsong if you take 50g of 515 RC-1 and nuke it in the microwave for 20 seconds to dry out a bit, put it in the noodle press for 4 weeks it becomes very dense. I once smoked a single bowl for one hour and 45 glorious minutes!
Had some Sutliff Vanilla Black Cavendish, tried it once before and know I know why, not much their. I found it hard to keep lit and not much flavor. Oh well, also had some Vanilla Custard.
motie2 - I have never tried any of the Rattray tobacco. The blends I am interested in are hard to find in stock. Maybe I need to add Caribbean Dream to my list. I have been wanting to try Exotic Orange (a.k.a. Exotic Passion) and Bagpiper's Dream.
Most of the Rattray's blends are hard to find in the U.S. and when they do become available, the sell out fast. I've been a fan of Bagpiper's Dream for along time and then I discovered Exotic Passion when it was Exotic Orange. The Caribbean Dream is very good as is Rattray's Blossom Temptation.
Pretty much any Rattray's blends are worth the money IF you can find them. I believe they are all manufactured for Rattray by Kohlhase & Kopp in Germany.
By the way, if you come across any Kohlhase & Kopp tobacco, they are all good also.
As @motie2 said, Esterval's in Germany is a good source for pipe tobacco but you have to watch the shipping options. If you chose Deutsch Post, it will probably get sent back by the U.S. Post Office. If you choose DHL Express, the shipping may cost more but my last order arrived in five working days.
Starting the day off with some Stokkebye Nougat in my @Corey562 tomato while enjoying a cup of Joe... I can see why they used this blend in LOTR. It's mild, tasty, and a nonoverpowering but pleasant aroma...
🧐 Confirmed: According to an employee from Peter Stokkebye, that is indeed the blend smoked on-screen by the actors during the filming of the Lord of the Rings movies.
@AceFour You'll need to do what I do. Be thankful for all the pleasant times it gave you while it was here... I cherish those moments, and look forward the rest of my cellar... Besides, at 73, I'm becoming more thankful for at lot of things I used to take for granted... like breathing...😏

I have that same pipe and they are beautiful.

Undaunted... that's your word for the day..."undaunted"...👍
Smoking Dix in Weber with gold band.

Hope you had a good FIRST Father's Day...😁
Smokingpipes.com had Exotic Passion (Orange) on sale June 14. Probably all gone now.
The Rattray's Caribbean Dream is awesome. Superior to any Sutliff or Lane aromatic I have tried.
Some folks have had luck ordering from Esterval’s in Germany

Does this have anything to do with me turning into an old codger myself?
It depends. How old are ye?
