Nice light rain coming down ... the calm before the storm - so I'm taking advantage of the temporary cooling down to enjoy a bowl of "Wild Hare" in my Matches 860 pipe. Expecting evening storms to be coming my way with wind gusts of up to 60 mph. I hope and pray no more trees decide to fall on my roof. I have the feeling that my Insurance Company is on the verge of cancelling my contract if it happens again.
Just finished a bowl of White Rose. It was surprisingly good. Burned even, no bite and an almost Oriental taste. The floral aroma was noticeable but didn’t overwhelm the tobacco or the senses. I didn’t get any of the soapy aftertaste I’ve come to associate with Lakeland blends.
Smoking my Tsuge 100th Anniversary loaded with my “mystery tin” tobacco while paying some bills. I hate bills😖. On the other hand, I love how this pipe smokes😍
Tashkent didn't make the grade this evening so I switched to Lancer's Slices in an MM Morgan with a long stem. It's pairing well with a Vermouth Spritzer.
Smoking some Gawith, Hoggarth, & Co. “Sweet Rum Twist” in my own handmade Liverpool tonight out on the patio. It’s finally cooled down to 80F.
@Balisong Ok, I had to try it, it sounded interesting. I mixed up a Vermouth Spritz tonight. 2 parts Sweet Red Vermouth, 4 parts Soda Water, a couple of dashes of Orange Bitters, on ice. Pretty tasty and light on the booze. Light on the alcohol helps to keep me from getting indigestion in the middle of the night👍🏻 I think I will go with one dash of Orange Bitters next time. Thanks for expanding my knowledge @Balisong.
@RockyMountainBriar glad you found it tasty! The wife mixes hers 1 to 1 with orange sparkling water. The taste changes with the brand of Vermouth. I grew up with Martini and Rossi around the house so that was my starting point. Their mixture is very herbal bordering on medicinal. When it's available I get Lionello followed by DiPadrino.
I've been exploring the tobacco blends I bought from Esterval's in Germany. So far I've smoked several bowls of Danske Club White Roses (I like it more than the Country Squire's blend named White Rose), and a couple of bowls of Meistermung's Nr. 11 made by Kohlhase & Kopp (vanilla, Jamaican Rum and plum).
Yesterday, while sitting on my front porch and watching the rain from the approaching tropical disturbance (now Tropical Storm Claudette) I tried a Special Mixture made by DTM. Apparently, it is a cooperative blend from Dan Tobacco, HU Tobacco and Michael Apitz. I would like to thank all three companies for contributing to this very good aromatic. It's made of various Virginias and English black Cavendish. The topping/casing are cedar and rose that have been added with a deft hand. If all aromatics were made like this, more pipe smokers would enjoy them.
There was no bite and the tobacco has a low moisture content. I smoked two bowls - one in clay and the other in briar - and neither left a dottle in the bottom. The Virginias shined through over the very subtle aroma of the rose and cedar. I find it to be like a Lakeland blend would be if you didn't have the soapy aftertaste.
Of course, as always, these are my opinions and other pipe smokers may have a different opinion. At $11.13 per 50g tin (not including shipping to the U.S.), I have placed The Untouchables on my reorder list for if or when I make another order from Germany.

Smoking a morning test blend in Molina with coffee to pair
Eh, give it a blast of air in the fanhole😳. Ahh, NM, you probably need the time off waiting for the new ‘puter’ anyway😬
