@Londy3 Yep, I can pipe in the car ONLY when I'm alone. You noticed. Every year I surround the inside of my car with lights... But did you notice my hat? 😁
The boss insisted on a smoke break, so I figured no better time than now to try the Peretti Thanksgiving Day blend in my Peterson Shamrock. This is a nice even balanced slow smoke.
Finally decided to smoking the inaugural bowl in this Peterson Amber Spigot #87 tonight after I removed the nasty bowl coating. Smoking my favorite Lane “BCA”. Yep, it might ghost it a little, but in a good way for me. Way better than muxing it up with honey, jelly, or maple syrup. I tried honey once on a new pipe when I was a newbie-newb, now I much prefer starting with a nice bare bowl.....and BCA🙂. I think I might try some Velvet, SWRA, Half&Half, or Edgeworth match on a new pipe sometime?
SmokingPipes.com Not exactly cheap, but I thought it was too cool to pass up. Now I want the matching tobacco jar or jars 😬 I have fended off the desire to buy them for several years now. I don’t know how much longer I can resist. ”Resistance Is Futile“
Cleaning my workbench while doing some JOSN in my @Corey562 squashed tomato after changing my amber stem out with a red one... It's the Christmas season you know... 🎅
Smoking the Pete #87 with some Panama Jack “Melon” tonight. Enjoying a “Cuban“ coffee, sort of. I made the coffee in a mokapot and whipped up the espumá - Cuban coffee, check. I am not a fan of black coffee, I need a cream of some sort, so I heated some whole milk and frothed it with a mini-mixer and topped it off. Ta-Da - “Cuban Latté”.
@RockyMountainBriar and @motie2, my wife just got us a mokapot. When I was young my great aunt would make coffee for my grandparents in one, I didn't like the results. Now that I'm roasting coffee it's become another tool to make a truly delicious cup!
Now that the power is back, enjoying a pour over cup of Sidama with some Father Dempsey.
Many tricks. Among them: Takes achingly longer, but brew over a low flame. Leave the top up and lower the flame even more as necrssary to make the flow of coffee very, very slow. When the brewing is almost finished, take the pot off the heat before it does that big, spttering finish. It leaves a little water in the bottom, but the extra effort is worth it. Remember to use fine ground coffee, not very fine mind you, and do not tamp.
I was having trouble with a my mokapot, up until yesterday. I would get a good cup sometimes, but it was not consistent. I have been looking on YouTube for it’s proper use, but hadn’t found any “ah-ha” moment. It seems the pot almost always sputtered rather than flowed 🙁. I finally stumbled across a video that showed how to wrap the filter basket outside rim with Teflon plumbing tape to make a better seal. It was a much improved brew, but not quite perfect, still a little sputter. So I made a couple more wraps to seal it a bit better. I have high hopes for the next attempt👍🏻
Smoking some Half & Half in the Pete #87. I’ll get this pipe broke in yet, it’s already smoking better👍🏻 although it has been smoking well after the first bowl and stripping the factory bowl coating.
