Watching the History channel, History’s Greatest Mysteries on Ernest Shackleton’s 1914 Arctic Expedition and the loss of the Endurance. Smoking some War Horse Green in a Peterson Great Explorers “Crean“. I don’t have the “Shackleton“ pipe, so the “Crean” will have to do. Not a fan of the War Horse Green by the way, something “floral”?
Smoking the ghost of “War Horse Green” out of the “Crean” with some “BCA”. Reading on PetersonPipeNotes.org, the “Crean” is Peterson’s largest production Dublin shape.
@motie2, not nearly as much as the clay modeler who left the udders off the reindeer and added boobs!
@RockyMountainBriar, nice Peterson site! I looked around and read a post on this year's Christmas series. Went to smokingpipes.com to check them out and bought an 03, my second favorite shape. Since it's my first briar this year I'm going to nickname it 3P after their plug tobacco but meaning Peterson Pandemic Pipe!
Trying out C&D Star of the East. First impression is a subdued slightly sweet English.
I was in the local discount tobacco in looking for otc blends and I came across Smoker's Pride. It is cheap burly W/O any additives. I expected to blow a dollar to cross this one off my list. What I got was a decent smoke. If you like straight burly you could do worse.
@KA9FFJ in your last post you definitely have the look of mischief on your face... (Seeking an inside smoke with the fan blowing out the window?...). LOL
I did a favor for a fellow pipe smoker on a different forum and he repaid me by sending me for jars from his cellar. I’m having a bowl of HU Darkwood Scenery in my Stanwell HCA this morning.
@KA9FFJ that looks like the Honey Cavendish I get from Peretti's, they call it Boston's Best Cavendish. I gave up heavy aromatics but I still enjoy a light casing.
Smoking some 7-8 year old P.S. “Luxury Twist Flake” in my little RMB Dublin RC. This tobacco is better than it was when I started a few years back, but it still does not rate too highly with me. I guess straight virginia’s aren’t my bowl-o-pipe weed. This stuff was light golden brown when I bought it, now it is almost black. The age definitely took the rough edge it had for me off of it. Of course I was a newbie-newb back then and this was one of, if not the first tinned tobacco I tried, and for sure the first straight virginia.
While doing some local running around, I'm doing some 3 year old VG Cavendish in a Mr. Brog Maestro #81. My recommendation, Allow your VG blends 3 years. You will notice a much richer and smoother taste IMHO...

Funny, I am munching some cashews as well, just not freshly roasted.

(Heh!) Are you nuts? <giggle>

The 03 is one of my favorites too👍🏻
Trying the cheap stuff so you don't have to.

Cool photo. Hope the smoke was as well.
C&D Good Morning in a Peterson 03 P-lip
I like the shirt, too.
Thank you and the wife says thank you too! In the seventies they were a statement, today in New Hampshire they're a necessity.
Once again, for some reason, you look great in red... 😏
