Ole'Pops spent Father's Day on the front porch reading and smoking the very first pipe I ever carved myself. I call it the "Pops Pipe" I was smoking a Black Cavendish/Latakia blend that my brother created called "Wonderlust". I was a pretty quiet day. I heard from 2 out of 4 of my kids. That ain't a bad batting average for the major leagues. Got a package from a friend yesterday in the mail that had 4 oz. of Lane Limited: Burley Lite Without A Bite. Guess what I'll be smoking on today?!?!
Just loaded up a bowl of Autumn Evening in my Kaywoodie Redroot pipe. Should still be ghosted with Lane Limited "Wild Hare", so I'm expecting a much sweeter smoke.
The Carter Hall I had with my after dinner coffee was tasting a little thin tonight so for the second pipe of the evening I had Captain Black Cherry. I don't smoke it very often but it works with the cherry pie I had for dessert.
Smoked some C&D “Bayou Morning” in a Lane Crown Achievement flat shanked dublin while polishing up the Pete Deluxe #264. The “Bayou Morning” started out pretty spicy upon initial light, but it smoothed out nicely for a very enjoyable smoke....tasty stuff.
English Rum in this sweet little estate pipe I picked up at King Street Emporium.
I tried a new jerked shrimp recipe for supper and the English Rum seemed the appropriate finish to the meal. This stuff gets even better with a little age on it.
That's amazing aero smokers like Autumn Evening. The tin smells great. The smoke tastes like licking a cigarette ashtray....yuck. I heard so much rave I had to try it. I was very disappointed.
@Londy3 -- I had the same experience. @ghostsofpompeii recommended it to me and I ordered a tin. I smoked one bowl -- actually half a bowl -- and sent the rest to Ghost (as I remember).
@mfresa ~ Haven't had the opportunity to try Mississippi River yet but did try SPC: Plum Pudding (SR) for the 1st time yesterday. I was quite impressed, but as you say... not an all day smoke.
Fired up some GLP Abingdon to start my days off. Another really solid blend from Pease. A little sweeter and not as robust as Lagonda, this is still a nice all day English.
Not sure of what to call it. Instead of putting the scraps of a bunch of tobacco that sat in my 'drying bowl" in one of my scrap jars, I loaded a Royal Danish briar pipe with a bowlfull of the "unknown accidental blend". It sure smelled wonderful, and it certainly smoked very well albeit fast as it was out in the open bowl for the better part of just under a week. The amalgam of the individual components was very tasty and was a pleasure to smoke. I do know that the various tobaccos were either aromatics or burleys (predominently "Scottys' Butternut Burley") as these were the only genres of tobaccos I have smoked recently. I consider that a neat little test. The good news is I have two decent size scrap jars damn near filled for future consumption. Anyone else do this?
Winding down from a 13 hr. shift with some Captain Kidd in a Baronet billiard,@Londy3, yes Autumn Evening used to be my favorite ark that I smoked but they changed it and now it’s crap.
My palette has changed so much over the years. I'm starting the day with CAO's Eileen's Dream. Wonderful tin note, but no one's home in the flavor department. I think my love of English blends is justified.
@Londy3 Since Autumn Evening has more of a tobacco taste than the usual aromatics I smoke I tend to mix it with either Sutliff Rum And Maple or Sutliff Maple Walnut. That brings out the sweetness and additional maple flavor I'm looking for.
@motie2 I don't believe I recommended it to you ... but you did in fact gift me the tin. And I've been smoking it since. Only as I explained to @Londy3 only after cutting it with Sutliff Maple flavored tobacco blends. I wouldn't go so far as say it taste like an old ashtray .... but it has more of a tobacco flavor than I'm used to as I'm strictly a sickly sweet aromatic smoker.

Filled up my mini-churchwarden with English Rum. I having had this pipe out for. years. It still smokes pretty well.
Breaking in my new Dr Grabow with some Captain Black Classic. I now have a working man's seven day set. This is how you feed PAD on a budget.
