Perhaps this might fit in this forum (sort of), and in this folder. It’s a different kind of smoke ring.
International Smoke Ring Day is an annual event celebrated on September 15th to commemorate the delicious and iconic smoke ring that is found on smoked meats. The smoke ring is a reddish-pink band that forms on the surface of smoked meats when nitric oxide reacts with myoglobin, a protein found in muscle tissue. The smoke ring is not a sign of doneness, but it is a visual indicator of a well-smoked meat.
Regarding your dissatisfaction with your Peterson pipes, I recommend you send a letter to them (the President) and explain your issues as a collector and long time Peterson pipe consumer (keep it congenial), just express your disappointment..
Address your letter to Sykes Wilford, who is the president of Laudisi Enterprises who own Peterson these days, I am a firm believer in the "squeaky wheel getting the oil".
If I gave you his e-mail address it would not have the same impact as the letter; on top of which I don't feel comfortable posting it
Mail your letter to the attention of Sykes Wilford ,Laudisi Enterprises, 550 Highway 9 , East Longs, SC 29568
If you can include some good images illustrating the issues that would also be helpful.
@mapletop I was given the same advice by another recently. It’s such a hassle. When buying a limited edition pipe, a wonky, off kilter bowl-shank (my natural sb 03 spigot) or a crack that goes completely down through the rim from inside to outside, and is then conveniently covered up (my 2023 POY sb) is not something that should happen. I work in customer service and QA and I would be out of a job if I let things slide through such as these. Irritating, I had a Pete SPD that I sent back because it was drilled way off, but I could get another. The LE’s are not swapped out as easily.
Baked whole chicken with Cajun seasoning, steamed cabbage, tater wedges and brown rice. Made a banana pudding earlier. Captian Black Royal on standby for afterwards.
@RockyMountainBriar As you know though, things don't ever get better unless you make the management aware of the problem. They need to know that we as consumers expect better.
In addition, while you may not get you limited edition pipe, would you say no to a $250 - $500........ voucher.
I wouldn't, but I do get your point and at the end of the day we all have to follow our own path.
We had a simple dinner, pan seared salmon along with sautéed mushrooms, peppers and onions. Pipe is Drucquer Casbah in a Rob Roy, beverage is Lambrusco wine.
Speaking of dinner, I can’t wait to use my “Kirsten” as in Kirsten Pipe Company corn cob holders. I have a couple more pairs on the way. I need to buff and polish the ones in the ziplock. I used my buffing wheel on the other two, and it got most of the oxidation, but I need something that can get into the grooves better. I have the same issue with some of my old Kirsten pipes I have refurbished. I think the previous owner might have washed them in a dishwasher? Dishwashers mess up aluminum a bit, the ‘forks’ are stainless steel. I was thinking of making a similar tamper to the one for sale on EBay by “Kroozer” (repurposed from these cob holders), but I think I will use them for corn as they were intended.
If that KFC add is from around 1970-1975, that $5.20 21 piece bucket (adjusted for US inflation) would be 1970/$31.91 or 1975/$29.68 today. I don’t see a 21 piece bucket, only a 16 piece on the menu, here in Billings, it is ~$38.00. So. another 25%+ higher for 4-5 pieces would make a 21 piece bucket about $50.00. Damn, chicken is expensive these days.
@RockyMountainBriar I used to work for a store that sold Shinola watches. They were assembled in Detroit with swiss parts. If memory serves they also sold leather goods, and bikes. They all looked pretty cool but were way too expensive for my wallet.
@DSturg369 Pork & Dumplings? Sounds good….I love chicken & dumplings, well the thick noodle style dumplings, the fluffy mush ball dumplings not so much….but I’d still eat ‘em🙂
Fried beef liver, with bacon and smothered in sauted onions, mashed taters and pan gravy, buttered green peas and biscuits. Peanut butter Klondike bars afterwards.
Ok @DSturg369, you found something I won’t eat. I’m not sure I could keep liver down even if I was actually starving. I’d probably try, but I would probably end up less full than when I started.😖. I don’t even want to be near the house, let alone the kitchen when that stuff is cooking🤢
@RockyMountainBriar and @Montecristo I agree with you both that offal is awful. As a kid my parents and grandparents would use giblets aka offal in chicken soup and liver for dinner. I'd eat the heart and gizzard from the soup but never developed a taste for any liver!
Breakfast today of a (4) jumbo grade A egg omelet with three slices of Kraft American cheese and a handful of Kraft shredded cheddar jack cooked in a bit of bacon grease and butter. With that, two beef burgers seasoned with some sage, black pepper, Alpine Touch, and spicy crawdad boil seasoning. To pair, my home, light roasted, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans in an exceptionally crafted 😬 flat white. P.S. I don’t cook, or eat “lite”😉. Now an after breakfast pipe and tobacco selection is being pondered🤔. Yes, I know it’s breakfast at 3:00 PM, but hey, I stay up late🙂.

No offence, but the food looks better than the cigar.
I haven't had breakfast yet and that really looks delish, Brother.

I barely know $h!+ from Shinola. I did the goggle thing-a-ma-bob.😉
Maybe there is more to this “Shinola”, and I still don’t know the difference🤔
That's some really immature chicken, Cheap! Cheap!

Sounds like the “seafood diet.”
You see food, you eat it.
Yep, I’ll try, and eat most anything…once…..maybe not twice😬

I for one, know "Shit from Shinola". They taste totally different.
