I paid another visit to “Stogie’s” downtown and bought another tin of that 2+ year old G.L.Pease “Union Square”. I also won an auction for a new “Jeep Pipe”. The story goes, it was purchased by the person’s father in Paris, France when he was in the service stationed in Heidelberg, Germany during the Korean war. It is unsmoked, and had the little “Paris” note rolled up in the bowl. The story sounds plausible. It will make an excellent pipe for when I am in my Jeep, which is the only vehicle I smoke in (with the doors off, virtually no upholstery). I have two other swivel windcap pipes, but I prefer a Lovat, and this one is the perfect size too. Oh, it is a “Kant Security”, no other markings besides the KS stem logo.
There has been a bit of chit chat about the Cobblestone brand of pipetobacco. << Utilizing spirits as flavorful toppings that provide a pleasant taste and room note, Cobblestone offers a range of ribbon-cut mixtures enhanced with flavors of Amaretto, Kahlua, Sangria, Spiced Rum, and Whiskey, adding depth and complexity to the base tobaccos. >> https://www.smokingpipes.com/tobacco/by-maker/cobblestone/
I can't find the article at the moment, but I've read somewhere - maybe on another pipe forum - that the Cobblestone blends may just be repackage/rebranded Sutliff bulk blends.
The mix of Barbados Plantation and H&H Egg Nog I’ve been smoking has brought out my sweet tooth. To assuage it, I just ordered a tin of Molto Dolce, a blend I have not ordered since early 2016 when it was the first aro I tried after taking up the pipe after a more than three decade hiatus.
I just got my first tin of Mac Baren Dark Twist. I spent some time working with one of the newest "smoke shop" around here, and talked them through getting the stuff. Their distributor gave them some guff about the tin they were going to ship was past its expiration date. ? ? ? Isn't the date on tins usually the date it was put into the tins?
They also carry Borkum Riff and Captain Black and Half & Half and a number of the bag tobaccos that are also on some online pipe shops websites to offer to us pipe smokers. As pitiful a selection as that is, it's probably the best available in Lewiston/Auburn Maine.
The "Maine Smoke Shop" that I went to this time is on Center Street, Auburn, next door to a Chipotle shop. It's' in a new strip-mall building near where Krispy Kreme built their own shop a few years ago (and abandoned a couple of years ago).
The Smokers Haven shops I haven't seen -- and I travel up and down Center Street quite regularly. The one on Union St. ought to be right near the pharmacy (8 Union St.) we use, and I've never noticed it. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes especially sharp the next few times I travel those corridors to see if I can spot them. Let's hope they carry more than cigarettes and roll-your-own supplies and glass "pipes."
Oh, and along with that tin of Dark Twist I got, I also picked up one of those herb grinders to try out on my Stonehenge Flake. It took a while to realize what feedback from twisting the grinder top meant that it was actively cutting the bits of flake up, but the resulting "grind" most definitely stayed lit in the pipe.
Turns out the Smokers Haven on Union Street is in the building next door to my pharmacy. A building that I still thought of as an empty place that once housed a beauty parlor and some kind of diner. It's all glass and steel inside, and carries an amazing number of vaping gear and supplies, glass pipes, roll-your-own supplies, and has a separate glass-walled off section with its own door to the outside where they apparently sell various pot products.
They only had 3 bag tobaccos that I've seen on our online pipe shops, 4 Aces, Criss-Cross and Gambler. All the rest, I guess, are roll-your-own tax evaders. They even had two brands of pipe cleaners.

I'm surprised you haven't jumped on that Spiced Rum already...😏
If there’s a better rum blend than Barbados Plantation, I don’t deserve it.
G&H DVC,
G&H Broken Scotch Cake,
F&T Vanners Mixture,
F&T Waterloo No. 2, and,
Astley's No. 88 Matured Dark Virginia.
Four more attempts to find enjoyable unflavored Virginias that aren't flakes.
You sir, have exceptionally good taste…… just like me! 😛
Just another quarter turn, counter-clockwise, and you have it!!
