Had to make a trip to Harbor Freight to pick up a few things. It's about a 25 - 35 minute drive from my house depending on traffic. Just across the 4 lane road is a Tinder Box. Anytime I'm in that area (which unfortunately isn't that often), I always stop and purchase a little something. So here's what I picked up. Never tried them, but if I find I'm not very fond of them, at least I feel good about contributing to the B&M...
Now that Smoking Pipes has joined P&C in not shipping to Maine addresses, I'm beginning to wonder how long until the only pipe tobacco I'll be able to buy hereabouts will be drug-store blends and bag-tobacco,

Ordered the Mac Baren last week when the ads came out for this limited edition, arrived yesterday. In the interim we had a CPCC meeting last Saturday and one of the guys had a tin of the Latakia rolls and I got to try it. Highly recommend acquiring some, it is quite excellent, and of course now I want to order more before its gone. The flip top container is Syrian Latakia and was purchased at the Saturday meeting from one of our club members who has an e-bay business and is an estate buyer, if it isn't in an original packaging he can't sell it . So he usually sells the tobacco at our meetings for a song. Cheers,
Just recieved an order from Peretti's that I placed yesterday. I got an 8oz paint can of Boston's Best Cavendish and an ounce each of Cambridge Flake and Tashkent. In a simple twist of fate I ordered a pound of BPC for the tobacconist who used to order tobacco for me. He sold his shop last year! We both shopped Peretti's in our Bostonian years but never met before I stopped at his shop about ten years ago.
I just realized I can't remember the last time I purchased any tobacco. It may have been in September. My last pipe purchase - new or estate - was in May of last year.
I was doing some work today next door to one of the local tobacconists and had some time left on the parking meter so I decided to stop in and see what was new. They changed owners recently and there had been a few upgrades to the decor. They had quite a few tins of tobaccos, alas, most were Latakia blends 😖. I did pick up a tin of G.L. Pease “Union Square”. It was nearly double the price of any online retailers, but hey, I try to support my local tobacconists. I noticed the can was a bit bulged when I bought it. When I got home, I looked at the date on the tin 2/25/19....hmm, a straight Virginia flake that already had two plus years on it. Maybe it was worth the price, it smells wonderful and is quite tasty.
@RockyMountainBriar Supporting the local B&Ms is important. Sure the price is higher, but with some more states looking to ban online tobacco sales, it my be the only way to buy tobacco in the future.
I bought another tin of Vauen “Auenland-The Shire”....I think? The tin is not labeled “The Shire”. I hope it’s “The Shire”, my first tin is disappearing😬
My first tobacco purchase of the year arrived the other day. I bought three tins of discontinued tobacco from pipestud.com. Two tins of McClelland's Master Penman and one of Nording's Hunter Series: Retriever. Cost was $30 per tin but these were all from 2014.
@opipeman I quite enjoy it, and surprisingly, it’s not biting at all. I guess I my tongue likes burley better than Virginia’s. It does have an interesting aftertaste. Some of the reviews describe “Lakeland” like, which I agree, but very subtle and not quite a “Lakeland”. I’ve had to swab the stem a few times, but it is the first smoke in a new pipe.
By the way, the “Glengarry Flake” has an awesome bag note, I can’t wait to try it out.
@RockyMountainBriar I keep thinking about trying a pouch of Mixture No. 79 because I haven't smoked it since the mid-1970s. I think it was Mixture 79 Cherry or one of the similar blends that almost made me quit smoking a pipe back then.
I currently am waiting for the deliver of three of the Cobblestone blends. I placed the order for tins of Walnut Maple Pie, Cafe Mocha Flake and Indulge Cherry Delight.
Then I discovered that these are basically re-packaged and re-branded Sutliff bulk blends.

Please remember to report on the Ashton; sounds interesting. Thanks.

I see a few out of state road trips in your future.
When will the post office start confiscating “illegal” tobacco in personal packages?
Maybe it will need to be labeled “Ganja” to keep it safe.
A lovely tin of Barbados Plantation to mix with about an ounce and a half of H&H Egg Nog already jarred. Hoping to achieve a better Spiced Rum blend.

Even an old aro guy, such as myself, loves the Balkan Sasieni!
I got myself a small treat for getting my first covid 19 shot.
