Picked up a 100g tin of McClelland TGL at McCranies. It’s pretty similar to HGL (American English) but McClelland quality. Mike McNeil hastily tinned up several bulk blends back when the FDA was threatening to make them illegal and sold them to McCranies. Most of the blends they have left are aromatics. If you’re interested in some McClelland blends call McCranies.
I have not bought anything recently. But I have been gifting tobacco, that I will never return to, to some of my fellow pipe smokers. Why should I hang onto tobacco that I bought years ago, that I don't like? No more latakia, or blends with a high nic hit.
@motie2, you know I was thinking the same thing, just haven’t figured the combination yet. I’ve sort of dismissed the Black Raspberry and Creme Brûlée together, a bit to much maybe. Xmas Spice and BR sound good, as does CB and Xmas Spice. .
Here's my latest purchase from Tobaccopipes.com. Sutliff Match 20 (Dunhill/Peterson 965), Peterson Elizabethan, GLP's Navigator and PennyFarthing. My estate Majestic Ben Wade Dublin/Apple hybrid.
So the Chicago Pipe Collectors Club had it's first meeting since the Covid started, It was done as a private event at Arlington Pipe and Cigar In Arlington Heights IL.
The owner has recently remodeled and tripled his tobacco stock and at least doubled his pipe inventory, so of course I had to buy some tobacco as obviously he's been hurt by the lock down.
Also a couple of pics from the store. Next to Iwan Ries this is the second best pipe store in the Chicago area except the lounge at Arlington is way more comfortable and you don't have to pay $30 buck for parking.
It sounds like they may have been determined to “out-smoke” each other?

Smoking excessive amounts of tobacco has also led to poisoning; a case was reported where two brothers smoked 17 and 18 pipes of tobacco in succession and were both fatally poisoned.
OK. I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for a sale. 15% off GLP is worth it though! I also grabbed an ounce of Captain Bob’s Blend based on @motie2 recommendation. This should be interesting. 😀
Ken, my saying Capt. Bob’s is the strangest blend I’ve ever encountered is hardly “a reccommendation,” but I applaud your reckless abandon.
I’m still smoking the blend, but I’m a little strange myself. Once you get past the grape smell, it’s a pretty decent smoke. But getting past the grape smell is no easy task.
@motie2 ~ It's definitely an ......... odd ............ blend. I can't say that I hate it. I can't say that I love it. For me, the aftertaste is more enjoyable than the smoke itself. Will I buy more? Maybe.
I received a tin of C&D “Bijou” today to add to my first tin I bought years ago. The original tin/jar of “Bijou” has some nice sugary crystals forming in it. I also received five ounces of bulk of C&D “Espresso”. I’m not sure how long the “Espresso” will have to dry before it will smoke? I could nearly squeeze liquid out of it. It coated the ziplock, my fingers when I transferred it to a mason jar, and soaked into the sheet of paper I was using as a mat. I almost wanted to take a spoon and eat it out of the bag though, it smells tasty.
Just ordered 2 oz of Sutliff Burma Road aromatic English blend; vanilla and rum flavors. Lane HGL was good, but still lacking something. This led me to Burma Road. I’ll report when it arrives..... and if it ever stops raining.
@RockyMountainBriar Sounds like the Tinderbox Peach Melba I acquired. That is to say, it smelled edible, the aroma is fantastic, but I had to set it and spread it out for 3 days before I felt halfway comfortable giving it a try... Even then, I could have easily given it another day...
Nice find @Kmhartle! I've been waiting for Skiff and Squadron Leader to show up. In the mean time just got Pease Charring Cross, Abingdon, and Lagonda. For good measure I added in GH Balkan Mixture, Lancers Slices, Savinelli Giublio d'Oro and Juno.

Thanks for the info/review. I’m not sure why, but that is exactly what I expected.
Sweeeeeet! A wonderful selection of flavors. I can also foresee some mixtures
.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeez Louise.... they label them to look like bags of poison......
Actually, they are. Concentrated nicotine, tobacco “extract” WILL kill fairly quickly.
yeah, Sasieni
