I've smoked aromatics since I started but honestly I'm bored with them. Can anybody recommend a couple of non aromatics that are strong and smokey flavored or spicy
@Scampi -- Well, I'm currently fascinated by the Sutliff Private Stock Eastfarthing, a Latakia blend with a light touch. AS a crossover for aromatic smokers, it's a delight. It's supposed to be an attempt at cloning Frog Morton's Cellar, but it stands on it's own.
But if you want something spicy, I'd recommend Balkan Sasieni.
@Scampi Well sir.....you want strong and smoky, try Sam Gawith Black XX. It is not Latakia smoky, more BBQ smoky. It is unique and interesting, and I love it......in a pipe with a very small tobacco chamber. If you decide to try it, cut a coin or two off of the rope, rub them out, and let them dry a bit. I would suggest that you go to tobaccoreviews.com and temper your decision with a few informative reviews. It may not be what you are looking for.
I actually acquired a couple of tins of the illusive SG Cabbie’s Mixture this time around after missing the boat at least three times....even after being on the SP.com “One Time Alert” email list every time.
I had to go into Martinsburg WV to pay my property taxes today and while I was there I stopped by King Street Emporium. I picked up two bulk blends I hadn't tried before.
Trout Stream is a vanilla Cavendish which isn't listed on the site but from first impression should be an all day smoker when you have more important things to concentrate on than your pipe. Vanilla Fudge on the other hand requires a bit more work and care to get it going and to keep it lit. The chocolate casing with a hint that vanilla is something I haven't had before. I'll have to study it at length.
While I was out looking at the Halloween displays I stopped in Smoker Friendly for a pouch of Carter Hall a new Missouri Meerschaum and some pipe cleaners. There is something about the simple straightforward tobacco taste of Carter Hall that goes well with the rich spicy dishes or fall.
Greetings! I am new here. I have been working my way through the Country Squire blends, starting with their Middle Earth series. Old Toby was love at first puff! Quite surprisingly, because of the latakia, I also really like “Bag End” (Scottish blend). Country Squire is my new go-to fave tobacco blender.
Upon @motie2's recommendation I ordered a tin of Sutliff's Panna Cotta. Very glad I did, indeed. I've found myself fixated lately on the cool vanilla aromatic that it is. Wonderful stuff.
Went a little nuts earlier this week and ordered some tobacco from Pipes&Cigars- even though I need more tobacco like I need a hole in the head. The package arrived today. Got two tins of Sutliff Panna Cotta (as per @motie2 suggestion), another three tins of Lane Limited "Wild Hare" (my current 'go to' blend), two from Panama Jack - "Key Lime" and "Pina Colada", and two ounces each of Russ' Monthly Blends "Eau de Vie" and "Sugar Plum". As well as stocked up on pipe cleaners and Decatur Briar Fresh to give my neglected stinky pipes a proper cleaning. Told my wife to put everything but one tin of Panna Cotta and the two Russ blends away for Christmas presents. Made spending that much money on myself for no reason a little more palatable.
Feeling super stoked that I managed to score something from a TCS sale. Every time I get emails for the Esoterica, I’m usually a day late and a dollar short. Not this weekend though!
Just found (and bought) a 3.5 oz tin of Mac Baren Plumcake at a "smoke shop" in Norway, Maine, for $14.99.
I was surprised to find that they have a larger-than-usual selection of pouch tobaccos, a couple of Dr Grabows, some Missouri Meerschaums, and some poor-quality Japanese-made corncob pipes (the inside of the bowls were badly unfinished).
Due to mold issues with Jack Knife plug,I am trying out the Ready Rubbed
I have to say I Really Hate The New FDA Driven Labeling, it just ruins the aesthetics, Not to mention that only a moron would believe it would have any effect .
@Corey562 , I hope you let C&D know about your issues so they could get it taken care of. They are great at taking care of issues if you call or e-mail.

Enjoy!
And and an eight ounce back of Esoterica St. Ives.
You cannot go wrong with RLP-6.
It also mixes well with BCA.
