Hello everyone. I am Gregg from Alabama. I recently started a pipe. I find I smoke much less than when I smoked cigarettes. It smells better and no butts to deal with. Currently using my grandfathers pipe that I was told was from when he was in WWII. It is still in very good shape.
Not a new member, but don’t know where else to put this,,,It says I joined in 2016,,, only have been active in 2018...I mistyped my name, it should have been KenofShelby, and I messaged the nice lady what was monitoring the site earlier this year. She’s gone now. She said she had corrected my name, however, doens’t look like it worked.
Was introduced to the pipe in ‘02 by a college friend who’s military father taught him. I was immediately fascinated (I enjoy both ritual and collecting haha) and went out the next day to purchase a Dr Grabow Omega (don’t judge). And puffed away proudly for the next 13years.
In 2016 we moved in with my parents while I was building our new home (I am a professional Contractor) and out of respect to them, non-smokers, I put my pipe away.
But i I finished my home last May, and on the weekend I moved in, I broke out one of my Pipes and some old tobacco and the bug hit me again.
Thanks to Country Squire Podcast I am in with both feet up to my neck, and loving every minute. I have had a couple friends join me in the hobby and we meet at least once a month on my porch to enjoy a bowl.
Glad to find a community of pipe lovers. Feels like family!
@jdukes - Indeed, welcome to our forum. Ask anyone for help or information; we're a friendly bunch. We hope you will contribute to our discussions. Take a moment to look at the folder "Free Pipe Smoking Library." Appreciate the warm welcome and great info gentlemen. It seems the pipe community has good men (and women).
@Oddjob27 - it’s great to finally be in the house. 18 months of long nights and weekends were wearing me down. But we are in and loving it. Set a couple thousand feet from any kind of road and settled nicely on 13 acres nestled in the crook of the woods. Truly blessed.
@Jdukes Living in the suburbs of Southern California - Orange County, the dream of even half and acre is a longshot....Haha I've been slowly working my wife into considering moving out of state in the future. Haha! We have 980sq ft apartments being sold for $500k-650k in our area.
I hear it’s beautiful out in that part of CA @Oddjob27. I’ve always wanted to head out that way to the opposite side of the states. I only see sunrises over water here. 😊
