@Zouave Sorry but I don't remember ( not my cup of tea). I can tell you that this guy is a great master carver. You can probably find out on his site: MURFPIPES.com
For those of you who enjoy innovation, check out Krystof Copperbeard Pipe Works. They use 3d printers to form the stummel. They use a removable briar calabash-type insert, etc. Very fascinating. Here's a pic I took... The San Diego Pipe Club had them, but you can probably get details online?.?.
@Zouave1864, @KA9FFJ I was going to ask the very same thing. That jack-o-lantern with kitty cat is awesome. It’s probably a good thing I wasn’t there, I might have splurged.
@Zouave1864 I just went to his site. That pipe is listed at $399.00. It’s really a good thing I wasn’t there….now I just have to stay away from his site…..and he has a bunch of really cool pipes.🫣
@Zouave1864 I wonder if he uses a 3D CNC router? I have a briar skull pipe that has some pretty fine detail, and the carver makes several figural pipes. Oguz Simsek is his name…on EBay… from Antalya, Turkey. I wondered if he was using a 3D CNC router? Since he is from “meerschaum country”, maybe he does hand carve them?
Have you ever seen where someone, maybe even you, couldn't find their glasses when all the time they were on their forehead? Well that's what happened to me... sort of. I have shown you all the "stuff" I picked up at the show, then realized I forgot to show you one...🤪
@Zouave1864; I know that sinking feeling. I have a Sav. Canadian 7003 that I put in my bib overalls pocket back in the 90's and broke the stem when I picked up a bundle of shingles. That pipe has straight grain and was the most expensive pipe I owned at the time. I super glued it back together and it really hard to see, but, of course I see it and it still breaks me heart.
@Zouave1864 You must have been good this year. I remember being told that Halloween is the opposite of Christmas and that good people get targeted for being good by gremlins and goblins. Just like bad people get coal and a visit by Krampus.
@PappyJoe I must have been extra good. Started the day by sitting on a pipe. Got to work, lost a gemstone. Broke an emerald, then had the car engine die. My bosses wife told me to go straight home and smash a glass to ward off any more bad luck.
@RockyMountainBriar; The picture doesn't show the break, but up close it is visible. Damn it to hell, anyway! You may know the answer to the "C" on the stem. I'm assuming that there were different grades of Sav. Straight Grain pipes. Does the "C" mean that it is the third best?
Picked up a old Linkman's from a estate. Even has some really old tobacco still in it. Don't think I will try to smoke the old tobacco. Will get it cleaned up first. 😀
@opipeman The farther down the alphabet, the higher the grade. So a grade A or B would be a lower grade pipe than a C. They have to be pretty nicely grained to be graded at all.

Sorry.

The main challenge, besides getting past the look of the pipe, would be cleaning the shank.?🤔
Yes, that does look like it would be a bi-otch
😔

El Sucko!
It’s still looking good in that picture👍🏻
”Gremlins”😈
Your car is not a Gremlin, is it?😬

In the words of that great pipe smoking Philosopher @RockyMountainBriar, El Sucko! ElSucko indeed.
