Yeah, seeing “clergy” folks doing mundane things can be unsettling. When I was a child, I once saw my rabbi sitting on a stool eating a hamburger. My childhood understanding of the way things work couldn’t process the scene. I also imagined that if I rang the rabbi’s doorbell at any hour of the day or night he’d answer the door wearng a dark suit, white shirt and tie. The idea that he might ever dress any other way never occurred to me.
Of course, nine years in seminary decathected my view of clergypersons altogether. Our pants still go on one leg at a time.
@motie2@RockyMountainBriar In my early years in the Coast Guard we had a chaplain on the icebreaker who would often join us smoking cigars and drinking whiskey while on liberty. One young man who worked for me just before I retired, got out of the Coast Guard and went to seminary. He is now a Lutheran priest and still enjoys an occasional beer. He graduated from seminary just days before 9/11 and joined the Army Chaplain Corp just after. He retired as a Major.
By the way, @motie2 I checked out the link and the merchant is known as the "Meer Queen". I have met her at a pipe show about 10 years ago and still have her business card. She may just know what a woman wants in a meerschaum pipe. LOL
@motie2, @PappyJoe It’s not the idea of clergy partaking in smoking, imbibing or whatever? It’s just those particular pictures…..and I have no idea why🤔

I’m not exactly sure why, but that pic is disturbing.

Here’s what one merchant thinks a woman wants in a tobacco pipe.
