I’m not usually much on asymmetry/off-kilter? but cutting the bead-line of the bowl on that reverse calabash to match the lines of the bamboo shank and stem is pretty cool.
Sometimes you go looking for pipes in antique/junk shops and don't see anything at all. Other times you go in looking for something else and find the motherlode. I'm in the "don't buy anymore pipes" mode at the moment. Oh, this is just four of the meerschaum pipes in the case. There were five more I didn't photographed.
That long Dublin is ok, but I really hate his “rolled edge” saddle stems. They look like…and probably are, preformed stems with just a slight fitting and polish? They just hose the aesthetics of the pipe, in my opinion.
Those are mostly hideous, except the 2014 light stained. It is ok. I’d normally like the 2015 Pickaxe, but there is just too much fancy plumbing, the metal pipe and weird “bead” ruin it……in my opinion🙂
@motie2 That’s cool how that is done…..dangerous, but cool. I can’t recall what the process is called. It looks really cool when done in a slab coffee table then the lines filled with glow-in-the-dark epoxy.
In the jewelry buisness we have UV hardening enamels. They are the sort of enamels that they fix broken teeth with at the dentist, but they are colored. I have wondered if you could use them on a pipe? Or if the glass on wood would cause too much breakage between the two materials? Would be fun to try.

Once again: “Robot dogs?”
