@opipeman I’m kicking myself for not buying one of the Smooth Savinelli “Professor” series when they were on closeout. They are nice pipes. I think I bought the “Ontario” 812 or a “New Art Natural” 207 instead. A limited amount of “green” for luxury items.
@RockyMountainBriar; The "Professors" are great little pipes. I have a smooth, which has straight grain almost all the way around the bowl. It has two small fill holes on the bottom of the bowl. The second one is a blasted "Pietro". They are both great smokers.
At the time, I actually put a “New Art Natural” 127 on layaway with a larger than required downpayment, but when I went to pay it off early, they had sold it/couldn’t find it? WTF? So to make it right, we made a deal, and I got the “Ontario” 812 for the same price, which was a few bucks less than normal. I really wanted the “Ontario”, but man that particular 127 “New Art” was a cool pipe. This is the exact one that I had on layaway that “disappeared”.
I did end up getting this exact “New Art Natural” 207 a few months later. It’s a really nice pipe, but that smooth 127’s shape, stain, shank inlay and stem color pattern was awesome. Apparently someone else though so to😖
Weather let us do another 18 today. Crappy weather the rest of the week so we're glad to get this one in. Got home, drilled holes in the ground using a 1" spade bit where the grass was very thin, and dropped some seed for the upcoming rain coming in tonight and tomorrow. Now relaxing while taking a brand new recently stemmed Calabrest on a maiden voyage with some Half & Half...
@Londy3 Ahh, it happens, and I’d rather not say. They have exceptional customer service 100% of the time. I have purchased many pipes from them and have zero complaints with how they reconcile any issues.
P.S. It’s the reason you have an awesome pipe ashtray🙂
I got a loot drop today, nine ounces of Gawith & Hoggarth’s “Bosun Cut Plug”….the uncut plug was out of stock🙁. I needed the extra ounce to meet the minimum to get the “free swag” tin….I’m such a sucker. Cool tin though huh? 🙂 Luckily, I like this tobacco a lot, tasty. I could have mixed and matched some other GH&Co. blends, but somehow I felt that the tin needed to be full. I’m smoking it this evening in a little, old, no-name Canadian with a ruby bakelite “Redmanol” stem and threaded bone tenon.
This Calabrest bent smoked so well the other day, I decided to give it another spin with some Lane 1Q to see if it might have been a fluke... I wasn't! Glad I took the time to stem this stummel. I still need to chamfer the tenon, but other than that, I've got a keeper...
Last night I met up with fellow pipe club member at a local cigar lounge and he offered me some Tabac De La Semois, Bouchons to try.
A very unique tobacco smoking experience indeed, its essentially like putting a short cigar in your pipe, though most of it protrudes from the bowl.
It is prepared by wetting / licking the base of the Bouchon to soften the completely dry wrapper leaf so it will form a seal in the pipe, once that is accomplished you then insert a knife or poker into the top cap so air can flow and then you just light it.
I actually liked it very much; its pricey ($6.66 per bowl) but what the hell, I got home last night and ordered some, its got a fair amount of nicotine but not insane. I was a fun experience. And you never have to worry about it drying out because you smoke it completely dry.
IT'S NOT MY FAULT! At my age, you guys are supposed to pick up the slack and remind each other of March Meerschaum Madness! Doesn't mean you have to smoke a meer every day, just more frequently than normal. I'm doing some Stokkebye 24 Nougat in a noname restemmed Rhodesian meer...

That's a nice cob. I got its twin last year at the pipe show and I've really enjoyed it... 👍🏻
Thank you, Me too! This is my favorite cob next to my Mark Twain
I agree with KA9FFJ, that Sav. is a beauty.
The Savinelli “Long John” series are all two piece shank extensions with an internal stainless steel connector tube.
I had not seen that new? MM label.

Personally I love G.L. Pease “Cairo”, but one must love, or at least like, oriental varietals, and not mind a touch of perique.
😉
