Double duty today, St. Patrick’s Day, and MMM. Touching off a bowl of Peterson’s St. Patrick’s Day 2018 L.E. in a Peterson 314 Golden Supreme Meerschaum.
This afternoon I decided that after talking about the Tabac De La Semois Bouchons I should try out the Course cut version (De La Semois: La Volute)
The first thing I'll say is I had expected that since this stuff if bone dry it was going to be interesting (to say the least) to pack this tobacco, and as you would rightly expect it to, it become very fine very fast. It was for this reason that I choose the course version as the shag cut must turn to dust instantly and be best utilized in a Kiseru pipe.
That said, my take away is this; the best way to enjoy smoking this tobacco IMHO is the Bouchons, because they require little work, and smokes very nicely because of it being essentially leaf like a short cigar.
The course cut smoked fine, albeit quicker, and as you would expect, its a bit more intense especially at the beginning because it is so fine and dry.
I would also note that in my opinion the flavor is best once you get past the first 1/4 to 1/3.
Have my son and his wife visiting from Vegas since Friday evening. Taking advantage of them seeing her mother by doing some LL-7 in a restemmed Sultan meer...
I was a little under the weather yesterday and didn’t feel like a pipe, so I’m smoking what was on my “to smoke” list today. I’ve got the Peterson SPD 2023 53 loaded with some Peterson’s SPD L.E. 2016 tobacco.
Well Lads, I have to say that the more I smoke "Barking Dog", The more I like it, even though the pouch aroma is still awful. Tied it today in me "Peterson Kildare".
Rainy here probably through most of the night, so I decided to break open Ashton's Rainy Day with a reworked Paronelli I received from the STL pipe show...
@KA9FFJ; I'm feeling great, thanks for asking. Started Rehab last week and I can see some improvement. I'm going twice a week and doing some of the stuff at home as well. My back is hurting worse than my shoulder, but I'm getting a steroid shot today. Next week I should be ready to gear up ride the engine. Well......maybe that is a little ambitious.
Tnx for the update @opipeman. Glad to hear you're heading in the right direction... Doing some Stokkebye 24 Nougat in that ugly meer I've been telling you guys about. I guess this pipe is a rare example that shows a pipe doesn't necessarily have to LOOK good to SMOKE good...

That meer is aging nicely...

She don't look so bad to me. On another topic, I didn't claim to be headed in the right direction, just said I am feeling great.
