That is olne squared away workshop.......my workshop does not come even close to yours. I used to keep it clean and had everything neat and clean. We have a small semi feral kitty cat who uses my workshop as his "inside gig" at night and during cols and/or inclement weather
@mapletop Yep, the “cigar plugs”🙂 are on my list, and has been for quite awhile, it’s just that I have not decided to pull the trigger yet. I have some of the Tabac De La Semois: La Brumeuse, it’s a dry smoking, straight up burley.
@KA9FFJ I thought about pulling out the meerschaums at the beginning of the month, but was waiting for @PappyJoe to (smoke)ring in the new MMM year🙂
I smoked two bowls of C&D “Espresso” back to back last night while online “Tanking” in my Pete Sports 6. I guess I will roll out a meer today. I need some breakfast first🙂
Well, I guess it’s time. I’ve had this IMP since June of 2015. Today’s the day, I’m going to load it with…..wait for it…..C&D “Espresso”, it should start the IMP coloring right off😉
I loaded the IMP up again, this time with a tobacco I got about 10 years ago in this cool wooden tobacco jar (again I’m a sucker for cool smoking memorabilia) for less than $20 shipped. It is labeled as being “In celebration of the World Championship in Pipe-smoking 1994 Limited Edition Jar #1432”. The tobacco looked to be sealed in it’s original gold foil package, but it was not airtight. It was still wet as hell ~20 years on??? It must have been loaded with PPG? It was labeled Orlik “Sweet Dublin Mixture”. At that time it “bit like a rabid dog”, I hated it. I tried it again a few years ago, and it had dried out slightly, but it was still like a pit bull unleashed. Today it is still slightly moist, it doesn’t quite unfurl when pinched tight and released….I packed it after about 10 minutes of airtime. I have to say, it’s has changed…or I have….or both. It is smoking sweet, cool, no bite, but with a kind of sour tingle on my tongue. It still has a kind of “chemical-ness” to it, but it’s smokeable now and fairly enjoyable because of it’s uniqueness to me. This must be the version without burley, and what (maybe?) nearly 30 year old Virginia’s taste like? I’m no expert, I wish I had one around to tell me if it is what I’m tasting?
@Montecristo It might be, it was in a generic 100 gram? gold bag. I’m not sure where I found the name of the blend, I don’t have a factory tag, just my handwritten label. I’m pretty sure there is no burley.
Did a bowl of LL-7 in an ugly little meer that I had to use a belt sander to cut the damaged shank by about a third, then rusticate it, add a shank extension then fit an old stem I had laying around. After all that, it's still ugly but surprisingly smokes great! 🤔
Loaded up this old Wally Frank Amber stemmed, gold banded, block meerschaum billiard with some Panama Jack “Pina Colada” this evening. I bought it with a stem that was crushed and missing some pieces. I decided to carve the stem down and make a nose warmer, which suits me fine. I have another solid ~1” piece of the broken amber stem that I hope to someday use as a stem spacer, or another short stem if possible.
@mapletop You must get your Tabac De La Semois, Bouchons at quite the discount😳. They are much more than that the places I’m looking.
Question: Do you have to worry about torching the rim of the pipe, it seems it would be very detrimental to a briar pipe. Meerschaum would be ok, also a “The Pipe”/“Venturi” rim might take it?
@RockyMountainBriar I messed up, as I calculated it at a dozen per box, turns out its 10 per box @ $80 so 8 bucks a bowl..
At the price point I don't know if I'll be buying the Bouchons again, but I do enjoy this tobacco and I know its weird to say it, but it was fun to smoke.
You Know I hadn't consider that issue of the rim as I always assume everybody has some work / basket pipes that your not worried about. I can't say I noticed any rim darkening, but I wasn't really looking either.
It basically smokes just like a cigar would in a pipe..
Alternatively due to cost you could go with the Tabac De La Semois: La Volute 3.5oz Pipe Tobacco for $28 which is like a cube cut. or the Tabac De La Semois: La Brumeuse 3.5oz Pipe Tobacco which is a shag cut. same price.
Its completely dry so 3 1/2 oz is quite a bit, I also bought some of the cube cut version though I haven't tried it yet.
Loaded a Peterson St. Patrick’s Day 2013 B60 with some Peterson’s St. Patrick’s Day 2015 L.E. this evening. Some pretty wicked open pattern birds-eye on this one, eh?

I clean forgot meself. I wish I could assign blame for my failing mental capacity, all I can think of is too many fires without a mask.
Enjoy the journey.

Check out who won in 1994.

Starting to color nicely.

@$8 per smoke, it basically like smoking a decent cigar I guess. I do have the La Brumeuse, but it does not seem that much cigar like to me.
That's a cool little pipe man
You're looking dapper with that JET pipe...
HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY TOMORROW...🙂
What do YOU have?
Add those to my list boys...😏
