My posts are all screwed up for some reason. So in case my comment was unreadable... I was supposed to work today but I decided I needed to burn a day for "mental health". Enjoying some Scotty's Trout Stream in my Londoner that my good friend @KA9FFJ refurbed for me.
Today, while working on getting my Christmas lights working, looking forward to putting them up (took me most the day to get them all working), I smoked a bowl of "Sutliff Christmas Spice". My pipe selection was a Bones "Fat Author". I was so engrossed in my work, I don't think I spent enough thought on how well I enjoyed it until after in retrospect. I am not yet done with getting the lights tuned up, so late tomorrow or Friday I will get back into it with a bowl of McClelland "Holiday Spirit 2016" which is a great smoke as well. All the while with Christmas Music in the garage. Happy Thanksgiving to all.......
Hello Pipe and tobacco aficionados, hope all is well. It's 37 degrees today in this part of the country at this time, and I'm trying for the very first time some "Missouri Meerschaum 150 yrs. tobacco blend in a MM corn cob pipe. Not sure right now, the smoke is a little harsh during my first few puffs. As the day moves forward and I puff slowly on this blend the story should unfold. Have you tried this blend and if so, your thoughts. Remember, keep smoking what you like and like what you smoke.
Borkum Riff bourbon whiskey on a no name factory second.
I finally picked up a package of Borkum Riff that wasn't bone dry. In still trying to figure out what it tastes like. The wind seems to be getting the lion's share of the smoke.
I'm recovering from unloading trucks and setting up the extravaganza that is black Friday. Captain Black original is my go to smoke when the manure has hit the windmill once too often.
GL Pease Gaslight in the first pipe I ever bought ( a late 70's Stanwell bent freehand, a Dublin sort of) as I recall I sort of freaked at the price of $65.00 at the time, but it was just irresistibly gorgeous, I had to have it.
Purchased it at a place in Lincoln Park Chicago called UP Down Tobacco which, amazingly still exists.
Reminds me of my dearly departed mom as when I brought the pipe home a couple days before I left for boot camp she asked wheres the tobacco, to which I replied, I could not afford any because the pipe cost so much.
I should mention my moms father was my pipe smoking mentor who smoked a pipe his whole life.
Anyway she handed me $20 and said, not much point in owning a pipe with out having tobacco.
I received cigars, pipe tobacco and related paraphernalia at Christmas every year since till she passed
Her b-day and Christmas tend to be a little rough for me.
@mapletop I am with you buddy. I still have a couple of pipes that were gifts from my Mom and Dad. While I was overseas in '68, 69 they sent me a beautiful "Jarl" Black Rusticated Pipe which I still cherish for both the fact that it reminds me of them, and it is a wonderful smoker. As I recall, it was a while after I got the pipe that I was anywhere near any place or anyone who had pipe tobacco.
