@motie2 I see most of the gas stations and convenience stores closing as a result of this law. I also see bootlegging tobacco across the border of Illinois thriving. Making a product illegal does not reduce demand.
@motie2, @Ron191 Organized crime is going to love this bill if it passes. You would think Chicago - of all places - would remember and understand the problems caused by Prohibition.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of getting the hell out of this state, but alas I have to wait for the death of my in laws or another family member to step up overseeing their care (not likely to happen).
Wrote a new (and much shorter) piece for my pipe blog. It’s about an old pipe shop I used to pass back when I was a kid, and my memories about the place.
I am not one to plug businesses and it certainly is not my intention here, but I found, IMHO, a decent deal on Ebay... First, the want was there. I've always wanted a pocket pipe but never wanted to pay the average cost people were asking, and when I did find a good price, the pipe was usually in pretty bad shape. So when I found this offer, I decided to take the plunge. The pipe is a noname made in Italy, and according to the seller, they are rated as seconds. The only "flaw" I have found is that the pipe is not quite geometrically balanced tapering down from the bowl to the mortise, but will have absolutely no affect on function. Also included is a pipe tool, a mini tobacco pouch and two small bags of pipe cleaners. Got it all for $29.99 - free shipping. I placed his card in the pic in case anyone is interested. Again, I don't know this guy or his business, just thought it was a good deal... FYI - I failed to tell you he has several of these to offer on Ebay...
