@RockyMountainBriar Pina colada tobacco??? I, many years ago resolved to never disparage any other persons choices when it comes to pipe tobacco and I.m going to remain faithful to that resolution..
@PappyJoe Interesting, I actually thought I had pulled my jar of Panama Jack “Melon”, but I kept tasting a hint of coconut…opps wrong jar, oh well Piña Colada is ok too🙂. It is Panama Jack “Piña Colada”….the Panama Jack line is no longer produced 🙁. Slightly coconut, a touch sweet, I can’t pick up pineapple exactly, just a hint of sweet. I will have to see what company tinned it, it may be under another company with a different name still? That would be nice. I like the Panama Jack “Key Lime”.
A reappearing question is what makes a good drink when I am smoking. Greg Pease prefers a green tea, but I find that is a bit clinical. Most smokers do it as a leisure activity, so forthwith some suggestions. Good coffee can be a wonderful accompaniment to good bowlful. I the evening something a little more forceful may be required to accompany the stronger tobaccos most often enjoyed at eventide.
Many enjoy a good scotch, certainly an agreeable companion, as are most beverages in the alcohol family. Personally I never have like beer with a pipe something too frothy about it and somewhat sours the tats buds in my opinion, especially the cheap beers. Bourbon I find generally a bit sweet & cloying. Red wine is really a wonderful accompaniment particularly the Bordeaux’s – to be more specific; Pinot Noir I find is almost ideal. Whatever country it comes as long as it is not old sailor red quality. Now a generally underappreciated companion to a pipe is Champagne. I mean Champagne not Prosecco that in Italy is drunk like beer with jugs on the table. Prosecco shares as much similarities to Champagne as Burley does to Latakia.
Champagne was Winston Churchill perfect compliment to a cigar and so it is, I can attest from much research. It works just as well with quality pipe tobacco. Champagne on first thought make one assume expensive and a big bottle that must be finished at one sitting. Both are incorrect. There is some excellent Champagne and in some cases their sister California sparking wines. Moet Chandon France its sister is Chandon, California. Both are very good but well, I’ll let you do your own research.
A major fringe benefit to this is saying to ones other half, I’m going to some my pipe and enjoy a glass of Champagne with it, “ would you like one”. I can guarantee that your others attitude to pipes will undergo an instant change for the better. A wing tipped sealer is what is required If one only is going to drink a glass or two. A bit of cling wrap under the seal can make the Champagne last up to 10 days- in the refrigerator please – and still be good drinkable bubbly.
My little sister brought me some homemade chicken noodle soup because I am a little under the weather still. She also brought me a Starbuck’s “Pink Drink”. I had picked up a couple for her and my mother sometime ago and commented that they smelled very good. She remembered that comment and added one to “my order”🙂. It is not as “desert like” as I had imagined, it is closer to pink lemonade, a little tart and not as sweet as I had expected. It is pairing very well with this “Anomalous” tobacco, very tasty. I’m glad I have four siblings, I wouldn’t know what to do without them.

Pina Colada tobacco? Tell me more.
I occasionally will pull out my jar of Caribbean Dream by Rattray's which is coconut/mango but haven't really found one that is coconut/pineapple.

Something you are actually going to drink, or drinking, or just a picture?
