@pwkarch — How is that MacBarren Scottish Blend? I have had a tin sitting here for about 6 months or so, never having gotten around to as much as even popping the lid. At some point I read a review that led me to order a tin. I am usually just an aromatic smoker but this was as I remember listed as a "light aromatic".
I really like it, but it’s NOT aromatic even if it says it is. I’d classify it closer to a VA-Per. It is good though.
Opened a fresh tin of C&D's Black Frigate I've had sitting around for a few months. Wow, I'm really digging this blend. It has this nice, creamy taste to it, which I haven't experienced in another blend. Reminds me of Blockade Runner a bit, but not a rip off. Smoking it in my Marvic cuttyegg. I definitely recommend this blend.
@ghostsofpompeii -- Not hardly. Just mixing two similar things together, complimenting and enhancing each other, is just common sense. Your Mrs. Hudson's is alchemical genius......
Just got in some Newminster #17 English Luxury. I like it, but it's still nowhere near the "English Blend" I bought from Mr. Vottis in his shop in Schenectady NY back in 1974.
Cornell & Diehl's "Byzantium." It was a recommendation on Country Squire Radio as a good breakfast blend. I'm smoking it so that I use less and less of Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe, which is on its way out of circulation. I find it a good alternative, perhaps a bit stronger than EMP. My favorite morning pipe was a Peterson bent orange Army Mount pipe, but I've become very fond of my Savinelli Bing's Favorite.
Kind of cold in the garage so I pulled out my Baraccini Pocket Pipe for a quick smoke, and in it I have a 50/50 mixture of Sutliff Coconut Almond and Chocolate Mousse. I'm experiencing a sensation reserved only for Eskimos - smoking an Almond Joy while sitting in an igloo.
@Motie2 Imagine tossing one of those roasted coconut covered marshmallow into your mouth, and just before you begin chewing pop in a few almonds for good measure. It's kinda' like that. But be forewarned. This is one of the few Sutliff aromatics that can leave you with a bad case of tongue-bite if you're not careful. Smoke it slow and easy and you'll be okay. But start puffing like a locomotive and you'll soon be sorry. That's why I prefer cutting it with a 50/50 mixture of Chocolate Mousse to tame the bite while also adding that something extra to give it more of an Almond Joy flavor. Very nice.
Firing up some McCranie's Highland in a GBD apple sitter. I have recently learned that this is a relabeled McClelland, so I will switch the next time I order some.
Hey, @PappyJoe -- @Woodsman mentioned Holger Danske Mild Orange, above. Might that stand slake one's desire for the unavailable Rattray's Exotic Passion, (né Orange)? Or am I late to the party?

Think I will finish up the day with some 1999 stirlingshire in my GBD bulldogg. It is a well mature Virginia that has a sour yet fruity note cant get enough....

Wow, it's great when we find things that knock our socks off........

Brand: Mac Baren
@motie2 You may have just discovered your own Hudson's 221B Bakery Blend. Now what are you going to call it.
