I just cut a few “cubes” of G.L. Pease “géométrie” to stuff in a Savinelli Oscar Elite 803ks. The last time I smoked this tobacco, I cut some flakes and rubbed them out, this time, I am interested to see how some “cubes” burn. I need to get me a Savinelli lighter to complete “the set”🙂. The dang things are so expensive though.
@RockyMountainBriar There is a town in Italy that is known for knife making and in particular switchblades, I believe it is Maniago. I spoke with a craftsman there about 15 years ago when I had my shop and wanted to import switchblades from Italy and butterfly knives from the Philippines.
Found a 2015 tin of Torben Danske Black Velvet in my cellar. It’s been so long that I had to look it up. An aromatic with Latakia and flavored with Guinness. What could go wrong…
@Londy3 It's the camera perspective that makes it look that big. At least partially as it is a large bowl. The inside depth of the chamber is 1-5/8" and the inside diameter is .75". The outside is 2-3/8" deep by 1.75" wide.
I commissioned this Cutty shaped pipe from R.D. Powell in northeast Texas. He didn't like the way it was turning out and offered to refund my money but I bought a bent bollard off of him instead. A couple of weeks after I received the bent billard, he finished this and sent it to me anyway. He said it had a pit in the bowl and that the proportions got away from him so it wasn't to his standards.
Unfortunately, Ron was having some health issues and a year after he made this pipe he had to quit smoking among other things. Then he decided that since smoking contributed to some of his problems, he would stop making pipes because he didn't want to be the cause of other peoples problems.
Good Morning! I fed the cats, dog, parrot, ducks, chickens, turkeys, and, rabbits. Now it's time for a break with Drucquer Casbah in a bent MM Apple Diplomat and cup of coffee.
The New Orleans Pipe Club had its July meeting last night and we had two new pipe smokers join us. One was a pipe smoker who recently moved to the area from Georgia. The other was a new pipe smoker. How new? He bought his first pipe last night before the meeting and was taken under wing by a couple of the members and taught how to pack the pipe.
I shared two old tins I opened just for the meeting - Esoterica Margate (purchased in 2016) and Torben Dansk Black Velvet (bought in 2015).
Our local B&M also had a few new blends on the shelf - Mad Fiddler Flake and Dreams of Kadath. Both are by Cornell & Diehl and from their "The Old Ones" collection. I bought a tin of the Mad Fiddler Flake which is a broken flake containing Virginia, Kasturi (a cigar leaf), Perique, and black Cavendish.
Smoking some G.L. Pease “Triple Play” from 2012, a Virginia/Acadian Perique/Kentucky Dark Fired Plug cut into flakes and rubbed out, in my Peterson POY 2020…..mmmm tasty 😋
Starting the day with GH Balkan Mixture in a bent MM Apple Diplomat along with a cup of coffee. We're supposed to get rain that will usher in more temperate weather, we'll see!

Don't care for cigars, but it's a really cool pic...👍🏻
Is that a Savinelli switchblade?
No, but it is Italian🙂
A Savinelli auto with a good tobacco plug blade such as a sheep’s foot, razor, Warnecliff, spey, or coping blade would be cool🙂.

I use to drink Lambrusco a lot. I like it.
Yep, that is where the AKC Leveretto was made.
Latakia=wrong🙂
Sweet smoking vessel though👍🏻
They may be the largest bowl I've seen!

It was from a 2016 tin of Esoterica Margate in my bent billard by R.D. Powell.
That is a bit of a sad story. I can't decide which I like better, the pipe or the hat.
Wow, interesting story but rather sad. I appreciate you sharing though. Sounds like you made out on this deal too.

You would be correct. My Christmas season for Santa photos starts in 94 days.

By the end of the night, both were sold out.
Nice patina on that meer cob👍🏻
