My first morning pipe with coffee. Had HH dark fired in my rossie. Damn with the coffee and the tobacco choice this morning I'm pretty much at happy hour height. OMG how do people do this every morning?
While cleaning out my parent’s garage, I found this tin of Velvet. Lo and behold, it is about 3/4 full. It was either my dad’s or my Uncle Jim’s. We cleaned my Uncle Jim’s estate back in 2004. So, this tin has been open for a few years😬. With what I have read, since it was packaged by “Pinkerton”, it was made between 1983-1986. It also says that it was the worst company to have made it😖. Well, it’s actually not dry as dust and still stands up under manipulation. It’s a bit dry, but I’m gonna smoke it!
I loaded up one of my Musico billiards with some of the 35-40 year old Velvet. Now I know why it’s still being sold..because 35-40 years in an open tin and it still smokes well. Maybe a little ‘flat’, but still pretty tasty, and Montana ain’t known for it’s tobacco protecting humidity. This open tin, 3/4 full, has been in an uninsulated garage for close to 20 years at least. That crimped tin top must hold a pretty good seal. I also got a couple of old lighters, a dunhill Service Lighter, interestingly (Made in USA), and a Bowers ‘trench lighter’. Score!
I decided to get some more color into my Falcon meer bowl. It’s loaded with C&D “Espresso”. I had a “Continental Breakfast” of a couple of Krispy Kreme original glazed and a Yirgacheffe Flat White. I cut up a pipe cleaner and formed four new “soaker-upper rings” for the Falcon well. Yes, I can count, one of the rings is in the pipe😬
Forgot to post. Yesterday I sat down with El Monstro and enjoyed the late afternoon/evening with some Tinderbox After Dinner... Anyone heard from @mapletop lately? I lost his address. If you have it, please inbox me...
Doing some Lane HGL in a self made pipe. This blend is a perfect aro with just a touch of Latakia. If your not sure about Latakia, this could be a good entry level blend to try...
Smoking some C&D “Espresso” on the patio. I have it loaded in an old Peterson 04 “Kaffir”. I lumber-jacked an elm tree out of a chainlink fence at work today….actually, just brutalized it. I saved a couple of small branches to see if I could make a functional little “survival” bow, trying out a few new knives. The big knife with cord wrapped handle and tan Kydex sheath is a custom made knife out of Texas. A friend gave it to me for fixing his old double-barrel shotgun. It would not close. Get this, when he was in Afganistan (he was the navy corpsman attached to my brothers marine Force Recon Unit here in Billings) he said he dispatched some farm animals for the locals, in preparation for a feast, with it. Thing is, he fired it by snapping the action up since it would not close and lock😳. How he didn’t blow his head or hands off with the unlocked breech I’ll never know. He did this on more than one occasion😳

Thanks man.
👍🏻 Thank you. It’s not too exotic then🙂

What's like?
Let me clean that up. What does it taste like? That was what I meant to ask.

Just finished a piece of salmon and some Brazilian Cheese Bread. Now it's time for MacBaren HH Pure Virginia in a Rob Roy and a glass of Lambrusco.
"Dapper" is not a big enough word...
