I just had a bowl of Russ Oullette's Warm-Up blend. A really great aromatic from the master of English blends. Highly recommended for those who enjoy the sweet Sutliff blends. And a tip of the Hatlo hat to @ghostofpompeii for the referral.
Dunhill's sweet toasted Cavendish No. A22000. I purchased an 8-oz bag from Cup O' Joes and store it in a glass jar. It is a pleasant smoking sweet aromatic and a great all day smoke. It is a blend of Toasted Cavendish and Burleys, with a light fruity taste and aroma and is sold by the ounce.
Enjoying my first bowl of Bag End from the Country Squire in my Peterson Donegal. Bag End is my first "Scottish Blend" which I'm quite enjoying. Blended by the Squire.
Smoking my first bowl of the new White Lightning from C&D in a cob.
The raspberry and vanilla notes are really lite over the VAPER base. I jarred the rest and it will be fun to see how it tastes in my next few bowls over the next couple of weeks.
This morning had some of the McClelland 40th Anniversary. I haven't completed the Dutch Rule yet that states to try a new blend in various different pipes before making any final verdicts, but I'm really liking it. The cut is outstanding, a broken up thick flake that was fun to prepare. Right now it seems to be the perfect Sunday morning smoke, so mellow and smooth. I can't imagine anyone ever getting bit by this blend. I believe it was blended to be cellared so I have a couple for that purpose but right now it's so relaxed. It's worth a try if you like red Virginia. At times you have to think about it since the taste is muted. This is going to be a blend that will age wonderfully I'm guessing.
Today I did a little blend stacking hoping to come up with the ultimate dessert treat. The bottom layer was one of Russ' Monthly Blends "The Taxman Cometh" ... I used that as my bottom layer because it has a nice gram cracker and marshmallow flavor - perfect for a pie crust. The Middle layer was Panama Jack's Key Lime (you'll see I was going for a nice Key Lime Pie flavor). And to top it off I added some Sutliff Vanilla Custard to act as the meringue. To intensify the tart citrus experience I had a cold bottle of water with a considerable amount of lemon juice added to it.
Just finished a bowl of Cult Militia in my Big Ben Fantasia. The more I smoke this stuff the better I like it. It's similar to several of the Russ Monthly blends that are heavily cased with caramel as the dominant flavor.
