@PappyJoe; That's outstanding. I'd love to be a member of a pipe club. I don't know any one in this part of the country that smokes a pipe, let alone enough to start a club.
@utilityworker101 As a guy who predominantly smokes Englishes and va-burs I have yet to find a latakia & Virginia (only) blend that tastes good, additionally there are very few of them to be found which would seem to suggest the reason is they suck.
I've never come across a retail blend that had just Virginia and Latakia tobacco in it. I've seen some that are Virginia, Latakia and Perique or Virginia, Cavendish and Latakia but none with just the two.
@Balisong Just because I've never come across them don't mean they don't exist.
I just found out that McConnell has a blend named Red Roses which has rose buds, rose oil and caramel as the flavoring. For some reason it's not sold in the US.
@RockyMountainBriar I bought a coupe of tins of the eight state burley, but haven't tried it, just cellared it, so I am curious and have to ask how you liked it?
@mapletop Thanks for the offer but I'll pass, Latakia and flake some how don't fit together! I'm struggling though some Lancer's Slices and Balkan Flake I have jarred up.
Right now I'm finishing GH Balkan Mixture in a Rob Roy with a cup of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee. Next up Virginia Flake, blend to be determined.
One of my cousins is watching my sister today, so my wife asked where I'd like to go. I told her Harbor Freight and Tinderbox. She smiled and tagged along, visiting other shops while I perused HB. It was 30% off most items today, so I took advantage and spent a little money. Then to Tinderbox where my main objective was to acquire a small jar of cigar ash for pipe mud. I was successful and, as usual when I visit, I always purchase something, no matter how small, to help support the local B&M. So I now have 2+oz. of After Dinner... Back home now and doing some Lane 1-Q in a reworked "shoe box" pipe from the show... It's been a good day...
@mapletop The “Eight State Burley” has a super wonderful tin note, I could almost eat it out of the tin. Smoking it however is ok…it does not have much of the “coco/chocolate” as say the Mac Baren “Burley London Blend”. The orientals come through well, I like oriental tobaccos though, tasty, but it’s definitely got that burley nic kick.
Smoked a bowl of “Johnny’s Melange” earlier, and smoked through a bowl mixed with a bit of C&D “Espresso” back to back in my Peterson 03 Barley Spigot. The natural sandblast finish is starting to color nicely.
@mapletop, I think you are correct. I started smoking a tin of that but gave it to my brother as I thought the taste was overwhelming. Too much latakia for me.
I repeated the Drucquer Levant but in a Rob Roy and now I'm smoking F&T Cut Virginia Plug in an MM Let Freedom Ring Rob Roy. Just about finished that now cold cup of morning coffee after which it's time for a Sweet Vermouth and Sparkling Water.

More SPC bourbon barrel aged with a nice IPA to end the workday.
You can't hardly go wrong with BCA...😊

C&D Yale Mixture, Pease Laurel Heights, Savinelli Giubilio d'Oro (possibly discontinued), G&H and Samuel Gawith have at least one each.

That Sav. is a beaut.
