Hmm, I thought it was suppose to warm up..well it did for a day then down she goes. Snowing again today, though suppose to hit 52F tomorrow…not bad. Oh hell no Sunday snow, then Mon Low -1/High 13 and snow Tue Low -11/High 2 Wed Low -15/High 2 Thur Low -15/High 19 😱🥶 El Sucko! Maybe I don’t like the snow and cold as much as I use to🤔 I must be getting old🤬
After a wonderful dinner I broke out my Peterson System Standard 317 and rubbed out and loaded half a Dunhill Flake. I poured a Sweet Vermouth and Sparkling Water and started catching up on "1883."
@vtgrad2003 The Founding Fathers is ok, it was not smoking that well in that WDC. I did not let the tobac dry at all, it was a bit moist for me. I also left the stinger in the pipe which caused some stem gurgle even though it has a well in the shank, moisture was getting sucked into the stem. I only caught tantalizing hints of the flavors that “could be”. I need to try a different pipe. As I mentioned, that was the first time I smoked that pipe. I may need to change the plumbing in it. It’s probably the reason the old pipe is in pretty good shape and still had the stinger in it, being from the 20’s-30’s. It didn’t get smoked by it previous companion much?
Trying the “Founding Fathers” in the little WDC again. This time I pulled the stinger…much better, no gurgle at all. I will say, this tobacco is a little sharp, rough around the edges. I expected a bit more sweetness and fruit, but it’s ok, nothing exceptional though.
Finally broke our frigid cold spell here. Presently in the 50s. Decided to take advantage and do some Sutliff Old Vienna in my MM Charles Towne... HAPPY IPSD!
To celebrate IPSD I'm breaking in my new Radice poker. It came in the mail this morning right before church. I’m smoking some Newminster Superior Navy Flake.
Thank you, @KA9FFJ. I thought so. I’ve been wanting a Radice for a while now. When I saw this one as an estate on Smoking Pipes and it was 15% off, I had to get it. Smokes great so far.
The stem is ebonite. Feels great in the mouth but not sure if it will discolor like my black ebonite stems. Duane, have you worked much with Cumberland or colored ebonite stems?
@jfreedy Not really. I'll see what I can find out... I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed you know... I just was thinking, I THINK @Corey562 has worked with those stems...🤔

What do you think of the Founding Fathers? When I tried it it just seemed to have too many flavors for my simple tastes.
Some LL7 on a freehand no name
Nice pipe and blend pairing, not to mention the classic lid...

Bengal slices and a really good red
That's probably the best way to put it..."rough around the edges".

Now THAT'S a good looking pipe!
Really like that warm toned stain color...
