Newminster Navy Flake in my newly re-stemmed no-name billiard. Best flake pipe I own. Thanks Jamie (@ Stem & Briar). I love the green cumberland acrylic. It just became my new St. Patrick’s Day pipe.
Loading my Brebbia Go-Go with some G.L. Pease “JackKnife Plug” this evening. I’m not sure what to expect vitamin-N wise, so I’m going with this little guy…it’s not really that little though, maybe a Dunhill group 3 size? I have not decided wether or not I’m going to pull the “stinger”. It’s not overly restrictive and it keeps hot ash at bay in this short little pipe, which can be a problem sometimes.
I thought I had the flakes cut thin, dried and rubbed out pretty well on the JackKnife a plug, but it took four charring lights and a tamp each time. The tobacco swelled up like “fireworks snakes” and almost jumped out of the bowl. I was worried it might create a tight draw, but all is well👍🏻 …….and tasty, albeit a little spicy.
I had to pull the “stinger”, too much gurgle with it in place…fixed that issue.
@utilityworker101 The leather tray is handmade by myself…the cutting board is actually a coaster I found at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I use it upside-down to cut tobacco so I don’t destroy it’s use as a coaster, hence the little rubber feet🙂. As a side note, the knife is a Rough Ryder “Pipe Doctor”. A “Doctor” pattern knife that they replaced the spatula with a pick. The “pill crusher” flat butt end of the knife works as a tamper.
The Jackknife Plug takes some getting used to in my opinion. Easy to cut which is nice (not like the HH Dark plug), but it does take a few lights...and drying out doesn't help it much. It's a very rich smoke, so it's probably in the curing.
I started the day with GH Balkan Mixture in a Peterson Rusticated Pot, and, have since moved on to Balkan Sasieni in a Missouri Pride. I'm enjoying a cup of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee this morning and roasted some Columbian Supremo for my wife to enjoy this afternoon. We got in a sample pack of green coffee beans yesterday, I'm thinking of light roasting Guatemalan Huehuetenango for me!
@utilityworker101; Your posts always make me thirsty and wanting to light a bowl. I can't figure that out. Similarly, @Londy3's posts always make me hungry.
Doing some Frankenblend while continuing to break in my new little Paronelli... By the way, this pipe smokes dryer and better since I chamfered the tenon...
Smoking some Sutliff “Cherry Cavendish” in a Pete Outdoor D2. Still Sutliff, very moist and won’t dry out, and the smoke stream is hot and moist too. It burns ok in the bowl though and is pretty tasty. No tongue bite though👍🏻
Update: delayed tongue bite from the Sutliff this morning from last night’s smoke.
I personally love Grabow pipes (and they're made only about an hour from me). I only have the one left because these are my main fishing pipes and usually get dropped overboard or covered in fish guts and bait so I throw them out. I need to buy a few more.
Just cracked open the jar of stoved Virginia I cooked last year (Cobblestone), and it is quite improved over the original. Sweeter and less harsh notes.

I like the cutting board and have the same leather bowl. Homemade cutting board?

Then I have a similar leather tray. Nice work!

Had a Grabow Grande Duke I refurbed and took to the show. One of the first ones to go... Great looking pipe...

Good looking pipes.
Nice Corn Cob!

Yep, was 70 here yesterday too...although today in the low 50's.
