Haven't had a bowl of Lane HGL in a while, in a Molina green bent billiard thats not really green anymore, its changed to a sort of gray silver carbon fiber color
It was 50+ degrees a couple of Saturdays ago…then it dropped to -1 the following Tuesday…now it’s back up again….quite the weather roller coaster. I’m not sure we have even received 6” of snow total so far this season….if it doesn’t rain or snow, this state will be burning up worse than last summer.😳
Smoking some Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. “Glengarry Flake” in the Pete POY 2021. I didn’t shine up the silver, it’s kinda purple/blue/silver/black….kinda ominous with the black blast.☠️
After finishing off my "gumbo" mixture and three other blends I had open, I wanted something different.
I dug into the cellar and found a 100g tin of Danske Club Burgundy (formerly known as Wild Berries) to open. To me, its similar to Newminster Blackberry Brandy or Firedance Flake.
Rainy and in the 30's, a warm February morning for New Hampshire! I finished last night's Balkan Mixture while doing the feeding rounds and I'm halfway through Charring Cross in an MM Diplomat.
After a dinner of boxed 😳 Paella (tasty, I have no idea what the “real” stuff is supposed to taste like), with some crusty bread and olive oil for dipping on the side, and wait for it….about a half bottle of warm Sake😋 Now I am enjoying my own handmade Liverpool loaded with C&D “Espresso”, and drinking some iced black tea.
To be honest, it is a blend that I don't think will get as broad a support as CRF, @mfresa certainly has some good, albeit, proprietary comments on it. But I personally think it is quite good. Like I said earlier, it's about 1/2 a step below the last batch of CRF, which makes it probably a full step below the 2014 crop of CRF which was fantastic; that said, it might be unfair to compare it to CRF, I don't know.
I’ve read quite a few of JimInks tobacco reviews, until I don’t anymore. I get very little help from them. It seems that he throws out the same set of descriptors for all types to see what sticks. It just becomes a bloody mess on the wall. It’s like he has a dice cup full of adjectives and he rolls them out on the table to see what comes up, for me, his reviews are nearly worthless.
@RockyMountainBriar I agree that his reviews are somewhat cookie cutter and I always read other reviews. The most important function of the site for me is the ingredient list and flavoring. If it's "none" on flavoring and is only Virginia, or, some combination of Virginia, Oriental/Turkish, Latakia, then I'll read the reviews. BTW he's on a couple of forums, and, from his posts, he does smoke multiple bowls and takes his time determining how to describe a blend.
Son and his wife here visiting from Las Vegas. Visiting her side of the family at the moment, so I'm taking advantage of their absence with some Sutliff Old Vienna in a reworked little lovat...

The first review of Edisto on tobaccoreviews.com was 4 stars by JimInks.
