@Londy3 Unfortunately she is scheduled to have the other eye done next month. But with the condition of her eyes being what it is, she has no choice. The downside is that when she sees clearly, she'll realize how ugly her hubby really is...🤓
@KA9FFJ; Think how my wife must feel. I was pretty once. I guess that is what she is focused on.The fact that all of her former boyfriends are either dead or look a lot worse than I do may also influence her reasoning. My wife and I have both had both eyes done. I'm sure all will go well. I'll remember you both in my prayers.
Fired up some G.L.Pease “Regents Flake” in a Brigham Klondike this evening. Dang this is a hot smoking s.o.b pipe (the bowl). I’m not sure if the layer of varnish/plastic/decoupage contributes to this, but I really wish I could figure out how to remove it easily.
Don't have to go in tomorrow (technical research at home and its going to be -8 in the morning), so as the wife goes to bed I'm' thinking a bowl of Captain Earls Nightwatch would go well with some late night tv and a snifter of Cognac and some chocolate.
Doing some Stokkebye 24 Nougat in a repaired/reworked lovat. Really glad I decided to save this little lavot from the trash can. With all this cold weather, it's the perfect 45 minute to an hour pipe. Long enough to enjoy a bowl, yet short enough for the wife to not find me in the garage with hypothermia... 🥶
@Londy3 It’s the pipe. I have smoked my tried and true C&D “Espresso” in it, which has burned beautifully and cool for me in every other pipe I have tried it in…well, except that Electra I have with a very thin, over reamed, at one time cracked out completely bowl that I have since glued back together and lined the bowl with a mixture of chalk and eggwhite. It smokes like a thin walled clay with anything I smoke in it😖. I don’t smoke it much, pretty much gave up on it. The only reason I still have it, is because it has such a cool stem logo inlay.
Loaded the Tsuge “Topper” with some C&D “Virginia Flake”….pipe bowls don’t get much narrower or taller🙂 I decided to load it to the top tonight. The aluminum tamper looking things are actually Tsuge “Bottom Advancers”, although even SPC sold them as tampers, and they do work as a tamper. They are stamped “Tsuge Bottom Advancer”. I don’t think SPC knew what the were for, or they decided to make some more money selling the bottom advancers separately as tampers. One came with the pipe when I bought it, I don’t recall which one? I purchased the second short/long? one separately later….what a sucker I am. If one decide’s to smoke 1/2 or 1/4 of a bowl, you can just drop one in the chamber “pin” down and load on top of it. It makes a sort of calabash chamber at the same time.
@vtgrad2003 I'll get a picture of it posted here tomorrow. I made it a while ago, should be in the "Have you made your own pipe" thread. But I'll repost. Thanks for asking :-)

I like the woodgrain. Are you sure it's the pipe and not the baccy making it so hot?

Those are some beautiful pipes guys...
Love the 2-tone stain on that Klondike...
Life is good.
So are you going to keep us in suspended animation? What the hell is the pipe you are trying to break in?

I put heat in my garage thank god. It’s 0 here but 70 in the garage.
It was the Military troop support cans they had come out with around November. Still had a few in my beer fridge.
Like your Hobbit pic. Reading the Hobbit again for the umpteenth time. Smaug is now heading for Lake town.
When you smoke those chimneys, do they impair your vision?😏
"Umm, I'm sorry I hit that car in front of me officer, my pipe was in the way"
